Wow, there's a limit? I guess it was kind of long. I had issues with it refusing to go to the newest post lately too. It would go near the end, but not to the end.
Really? They just released the Halloween ones. You're very good at finding stuff. I just attempted to see what I could find and got nothing. XD Yay for Tet having another outfit! I wonder if Hot Springs will mean she'll get a swimsuit... hot springs is usually just towels or nothing, isn't it?
There's no artwork or page, but it was listed there. Whoever edits the pages hasn't been wrong, either, so I'd say it's accurate. Also, I think Japanese hot springs resorts also give out yukatas, so that might be the outfit?? Weird that they'd go back to a yukata-related theme, though, since Misa/Krusty/Nyanta/Rieze wasn't too long ago.
Ah, cool. :) I guess we'll see when it's released. It does seem awfully soon to have yukatas again. Maybe the new set will be released next week after Halloween is over and November has started. *bounces and waits impatiently for new Tetra art & wonders who will be with her*
edit: and nice Mari gallery. Now I want to add Tet pics to her gallery. XD
I might try to finish up that summary tonight. If not, it'll have to be Saturday. I have a busy day tomorrow and NaNoWriMo starts Sunday, so I don't think I'll have a chance to do summaries once it starts (unless I really want to procrastinate writing my story). I still have to plan out what happens in my fantasy story next. I have no clue where I left off and what's going to happen next. I need to figure that out before Sunday.
. *squees over Tet*...not really a new outfit per se...more a lack of, but it's new Tet. My first thought though was "that can't be Akatsuki... her chest is too big and the hair isn't the right colour", though she does kind of look like Akatsuki. I checked my folder of SNG original characters, since she didn't really look like anyone else, and she's definitely the one I have labeled "Lark-Samurai". I hope there's more than just the two of them. More LH characters is a good thing.
Tet is blushing. Cute. :) I do wonder how she feels bathing with other though, due to the whole gender change thing.
I believe that's the post that I saved the characters from and labeled the folder "Original Character" in my SNG folder. I believe it was the first subfolder I made in there, the second being "Idol". The stuff has their own folders but everything else was just dumped in my SNG folder and is totally unorganized. I should probably go through it some time and make folders for the different outfit sets.
Thanks. Well it's something, but not really clothes or an outfit. XD *squees* Tet-chan is so cute. Is it me or does she look a little embarrassed to be in just a towel. She seems to be trying to cover herself. I also think she must be sitting since I'm not sure how someone could stand like that. I was wondering if a towel outfit was enough to post in her picture gallery... it's just a towel afterall, but it is more covering than some of the swimsuits.
I'd still like to see Tet in a swimsuit, or a Halloween costume. She seems to get left out of Halloween artwork or group pics of the Log Horizon girls. I would think she'd like to dress up in a costume.
I think her description said something about being embarrassed or uncomfortable? She's probably still unaccustomed to bathing around "real" girls.
Isuzu usually gets left out too, because the focus is on Minori and Akatsuki (whenever Shiroe's involved). So it's not just Tet, basically all the other girls get shoved to the side in favor of the "main three". It's easy to tell that they're Hara's favorites to draw as well.
I did try putting the discription through a translator but I wasn't sure what it was trying to say. Probably. Most likely she tries to avoid it as much as possible. She's so adorable there though. Now I'm getting an amusing image of what would happen if Nao caught Tet in just a towel. I have a feeling they'd both panic and get embarrassed. lol
Ah. Isuzu and Rudy do come up quite a bit in fan art though. So do Serara and Nyanta. Tet seems to get left out the most though, not sure if that's because she's a late addition to the group, or if people just generally don't like her as much, or if they're not sure what to do with her considering the whole boy/girl thing... Marie & Henrietta... and pretty much anyone in Crescent Moon aside from Serara (who's practically in LH anyway) seems to not get much art/fan art. XD I actually prefer Isuzu over Minori, though I'm not sure why. Out of all the members of Log Horizon so far, I think I like Minori the least, though I can't say why.
Ah. I noticed there was a new chapter this morning when I went to check Elissa's twitter posts. I went to see AS afterwards to see if there was a summary up, so I saw the whole summoner conversation.
I just finished reading the chapter through google translate... not sure if I get most of it other than they are going to " <wolf Mr. mountain>" and "Leonardo's a city girl."... nice to know he's a girl. XD And I think the whole first part Krusty was wearing a newlywed apron and making a peach cake or pie or something with vanilla ice (ice cream?). It seems Chun-Lu is still with them. I know in the anime she vanished once they started fighting (no clue about in vol.9). It seems Leonardo was saying Kanami was like a Texan. They were climbing a mountain and there was something about a sealed door. I have no clue if I understood any of that correctly and I'm impatiently awaiting a summary. XD
Anyway, I hope the next chapter isn't another 3 or so months away. lol.
I guess I should attempt work on my NaNoWriMo story for a bit.
I'm tempted to add Hot Springs Tet to her gallery, but I'm not sure if just wearing a towel is appropriate...though she doesn't have a body like those girls on the cover of the Celestia Gazette, they might give Marie competition.
Naked but under the water or had things obstructing the view. Tet's towel covers her up pretty good...nothing is showing that hasn't shown in other outfits. I will have to add towel Tet to her image collection. hee hee hee... though from what I read in the description of the event, it mentions Akatsuki, Nazuna and Lark, but not Tet. I guess they will have Akatsuki and Nazuna hot springs versions too (unless I missunderstood).
Oh, I went to Mikakage's profile to see something and saw the picture didn't work so I fixed it. Today I noticed that it said her hair was pink. I went to volume 6 on skythewood and did a seach of her name. I didn't see any instance where it said her hair color, so I changed it to blond since that's what it is in the anime. What I could see in vol. 6, her familiar is named Allie and she's some sort of fairy called an alraune, so I changed that in her description. If you know anything that says otherwise, feel free to change it back.
Edit: Oh, I just checked mountain of pigeons and saw it was updated on Oct. 28th. I guess I'm a little behind on that. Time to read it!
I uploaded hot sprints Tet, then figured I should change the picture's name to English rather than the original Japanese... but I can't delete the image. I re-uploaded it with an English name and added it to her gallery. Is there a way to delete uploaded images or only you can do that?
I'm trying to stay on top of NaNoWriMo but I've been having trouble getting into my story and figuring out what happens next. It's a little stressful, especially since I refuse to let myself sleep until I have the day's 1667 words, no matter how tired I am.
Wow, a lot all at once I guess. I can't wait to see the rest. And yeah, Akatsuki seems to be the most popular when it comes to art and merchandise.
I was able to add a few of the characters' art on the wiki from the ones I stole from your LHFF (since I have no clue where to find them myself - seriously, you must have some magical ability to find all things LH) lol. I did as many as I had time for. Some of the others don't have galleries yet, so I'd have to do that first, which takes longer and I really needed to head to bed. Sorry that I end up doing the updates in so many saves but certain things I only know how to do with the current editor and other things I could only figure out on the old one so I save and switch to the other one... and go back and forth. XD
Anyway, the next few days will be kind of busy, but I'll try to finish adding the others. If I don't get a chance before then, I should have some time on Monday.
Yeah, last night I didn't have a chance do to anything. I'm not home until late tonight, so it's not getting done tonight. If I get a chance, I'll see about finishing up the LH gallery additions tomorrow. :)
I started reading the story through google translate, but I just didn't have time to do and only got about half way through. Maybe I'll get a chance tomorrow. Tomorrow is my only "free" day this weekend and I have a bunch of things I need/want to do. I guess I'll see how much I'll get done. Hopefully I can finish adding the images.
Akatsuki is so cute with that rubber ducky! *squees happily* She looks surprised...and she seems to be sitting too (I still think Tet is sitting or leaning against something because otherwise she's standing really strangely). I hope someone gets an image of her to add to the SNG wiki. Maybe she's extremely rare or the people that usually post the images have been busy?
Well if Akatsuki is in this set we won't be getting her in a Crescent Moon uniform. I'd think Marie & Serara will be in that set. Maybe Henrietta will be in uniform too. XD
Remember how Shiroe requested Souji's help before the Round Table? Well, the girls are later seen helping out with the Crescent Moon Stand (and Souji convinced some of the guilds to come, apparently, according to the light novel).
I don't remember them helping, but I could have just forgotten about it. If it was in the anime, I probably just didn't recognize the girls.
They should have Souji in a dress too... maybe the female one after taking whatever potion he has taken in the WWB manga. *imagines Akatsuki glaring at female Souji and hating that he's more feminine looking than she is* (I haven't seen much of fem-souji, I'm just assuming he's curvy as a girl). XD
I wonder if they will have a Souji in this group or if he's just in the group pic, just because...
Yeah, traditional Japanese outfits are rather concealing. (Unless you wear them practically undone). Poor Akatsuki... Well, one thing about having Tet in the hot springs with her, she has someone else who isn't as...um... well-endowed and curvy as Nazuna and Lark so maybe she wouldn't feel so bad. She does seem to compare herself to others and feel like she's lacking. So does Minori (I think Minori was kind of jealous of Marie's curves and felt her suit was childish at the training camp...if I remember right.)
I really should finish the stuff I started around here. Sorry, I've been busy.... and since yesterday, not feeling so great. I don't specifically feel sick, per se, but not well... though when the CEO says "you don't look well, you should go home"... I went home and spent most the day in bed. Oh well. Still about the same today, i think, I'm not sure. Maybe I'll be a little more focused and can get those game pictures of the kids added.
If I get a chance, I'll see if I can summarize (decipher) Shiroe's birthday stuff that was posted on the Elissa twitter and post it on tumblr. Some of it I wasn't sure what it was saying (the joys of Google Translate). I'm not sure if anyone is interested though... or if I shouldn't bother.
Okay. I probably can't do it until Friday... so we'll see.
Oh I just checked that list for SNG, they have Hot Springs Akatsuki up. They also have the refreshment stand Marielle, Isami and Asuka. I tried to put a link here but it won't post properly. I can post them on tumblr on Friday too... though I'm not entirely sure what the new one is called... Google Translated just calls them "Selling Stall".
Oh, there's also an entry for Soujiro, but no image yet.
Anyways, I was saying that Nazuna and Tet seem to share alternate outfit events. Considering that Nazuna said that people said her real-life self could be a model given her stature, I can imagine her being pretty good with fashion and having fashion conversations with Tet.
Yay for the interview being done. :)
Some interesting comments. Hmm... I wonder if that means we'll never get to find out more about Nyanta's & Tet's backgrounds (unless there's a reason in the story)...
Honestly, at this point, I doubt we'll find out much more about the non-focus Log Horizon guild members (unfortunately, which at this point is basically anyone that isn't Shiroe, Akatsuki, and Minori). I'm thoroughly convinced that we'll never learn anything more about Souji, either.
Speaking of Souji, I finally pinpointed what I don't like about the WWB spin-off. Was doing a character analysis for Shiroe that ended up going in-depth about his meeting with Souji, but I'll have to get to wait till volume 2's back in my hands to do it properly.
I am not happy about that. :( Minori is not one of my favourite characters (and the whole love angle for her annoys me). I'm really curious about Nyanta (and of course Tet...). Yeah, Souji needs a little more too, even though he's not a LH guild member.
So what don't you like about the WWB spin-off? Does it contradict the light novel or something?
Long story short, volume 2 Souji was more self-aware and was aware of his whole harem aspect. WWB Souji and volume 5 Souji basically are absolutely clueless and don't know why girls go all gaga around him or why guys don't seem to like him.
Ah okay. I still need to finish reading vol. 5. I forget where I left off (I think that was back in October, before NaNoWriMo took over) but I think I have notes somewhere. I'm also not finished reading vol. 3 in English, I'm only halfway through chapter 4. ReGan (or Li Gan as they call him) was just starting to explain the whole world fraction thing...
(I'm LHFF, by the way, in case you're wondering how I know about it.)
Someone in the Japanese fandom (minomushi, the person who posts their photos of their Krusty/Rayneshia cosplays) read your post about being self-conscious about your Tetora cosplay. They didn't actually comment any further on it, but I thought you'd like to know that even overseas fans are paying attention.
I use a combination of Weblio (the orange button on the top/bottom right of the text input box gives JP --> ENG), Bing, and Google translators so that things make half a bit of sense. XD
I barely even work on the Wiki, only fixing up things here and there when I'm not being lazy. Same with LHFF, since there's not much going on. LHxFE is ... another story. I've been getting too busy to consistently work on the portrait sprites, so I'm focusing on rewriting the script.
You seem to add stuff to the wiki at least every couple of days, though always big things. It's still something. I'm afraid to add stuff because it might be wrong (like relationships and stuff) and I've never really added to a wiki so I'm afraid to mess stuff up. I've only ever changed one thing here and that was to undo someone changing she to he when it was supposed to be she. I've posted in the talk a couple of times, but that wasn't actually changing stuff.
We need more info so there can be LHFF updates. I guess when the actual vol. 10 light novel comes out there will be pictures and stuff.
Well good luck with the sprites and script. The stuff you've shared so far looks good. I'm sorry some of the sprites aren't working well. I hope the rest go better when you get time to work on them.
I don't think I'm actually adding anything, I just changed some code in the Character Infobox so now on some pages, the images in them won't appear properly. I'm just fixing the pages as I find them. (Lol)
I could probably scrounge up some more Fun Facts, I simply have devastating laziness. (Allegedly, my procrastination skills are inspiring, if that says anything about how bad it is.)
Oh, and I saw you post about the fan fics. I can beta read them for you if the original person doesn't deliver. Writing is one of my stronger suits (which is also why I opted to script first), and I've served as a beta reader for some other LH fan fics. I think it was fireflymoonfox or someone else on tumblr who posted some pretty good fics in the past. An Akatsuki-centric one comes to mind (although her real-life name ended up getting overturned by the S2 Settings Book). Unfortunately, I can't find it at the moment.
I see you found a fun fact to post. It's interesting how the changed the English text... it's pretty much the same, just rearranged.
Oh, did you see the response I added about Nao & "matsuri" in crunchroll with an example from episode 1?
The original person who offered to beta my stories is reading her best friend's stories and the best friend gets priority. She hasn't looked at any of mine in over a month.
I hate asking people... my stories tend to be rather long (100+ pages in Word is not uncommon). I don't know if they're any good. I'm sure the characters are slightly out-of-character. I have Tetra not being quite as bad as the anime...she doesn't pop out of people's clothing... she's a little more serious. My views of Tet x Nao are a little different than what most people seem to think. I've made up a whole past and name for Tet, which I'm sure will end up getting overturned if she ever is given a name...or he since Tet is male in the other world). I'm not even sure if I like that story (my original intentions changed as I wrote).
The grammar was also fixed up, and it was reworded so that it would fit the same space that the Japanese version did (right above "Horizon"). If they only fixed the grammar, it would have taken up too much space.
Yeah, I saw that one. Interesting to see that they translated Nao's signature word differently. I kinda like the way Yen Press did it, though.
The anime exaggerates Tet's personality a lot. She doesn't pop out of clothes in the light novel, either, and she seems to get along with other people normally, not just as "that flamboyant person".
Yeah, it still says pretty much the same thing though. At least they didn't totally change it.
At least he has his signature word in Yen Press and it's not ignored. My writing doesn't have it since I didn't read the Yen Press version until after I started writing. I guess it's something that could be added in. "City" makes more sense than "festival" in English.
Yeah, she's more comic relief and plays a bigger role in the anime. She's hardly seen after vol. 7 from what I've seen (mostly searching her name in the japanese text so it's sometimes missed if she's not refered to by name). I'm hoping she plays a bigger roll in vol. 12 (wasn't 11 supposed to be Kanami's group again? I read that somewhere... Though I'm interested in hearing about Krusty, I think he was my favourite in Season 1) Since I've read vol. 7 (& the part of 8 that has been translated... as well and 8 & 10 through google translate) I've tried to make Tet a little more like that. Not sure if I succeeded. I finally finished reading the translation of vol. 3. I've been trying to focus on writing so I havent' been reading as much, though I sat down Sunday and read from Ch. 2 throught to the end.
I don't think my fics with Naotsugu have his signature phrase, either. And honestly, a majority of the fans only watch the anime, so they likely wouldn't pick up on it either.
I was hoping that Tet would play a larger role in Volume 8, perhaps accompanying the kids or traveling with Nyanta. Alas, it was not to be, although it would be fun to imagine bonding time between the (biologically) older members of LH and CMA (sans Nyanta). At the same time, Tet meeting Roe2 would be the event of the century.
There were rumors (I think from Elissa of the TRPG) that volume 11 would wrap up the Kanami side-story. So you likely heard that from me. We're going to have to wait until after volume 10's physical publication before he starts uploading anything for volume 11, though, so we might have to wait a while. (Then again, I mentioned that he hadn't uploaded anything in nearly two months, and merely several hours later, he had a double-update. So who knows.)
I'm hoping to snatch up volume 2 when YP publishes it. I'm having some trouble figuring out how Minori would address Shiroe in English, and Yen Press usually gives people a distinct way of addressing him for those who use special honorifics (i.e. "kiddo" for Maryelle, "my liege" for Akatsuki). Then again, they might just have her call him "Shiroe," since most other characters have a special name for him.
I didn't expect Tet to go with the kids since she didn't in the anime... she seemed to hang out with Nao & Akatsuki, at least where food was concerned (I still think she looked too eager to eat Nao's failed cooking).
I'm still unsure of where she fits in age-wise. Sometimes she acts really young and sometimes she doesn't. It could just be because she's a boy in originally and boys tend to be less mature than girls (then again Marie is 28 and acts like a kid sometimes too). I just put her between the kids & Akatsuki. Though after finishing Vol. 3 I'm wondering how old Rudy is since Isuzu said she guessed he was in his early twenties, that would probably make him about Shiroe's age... and older than 20-year-old Akatsuki. I always figured he was about 17-18.
Tet meating Roe2 would be amusing. Hmm... what about Nao & Roe2...I wonder if he'd find a female Shiroe awkward or would he hit on her? I still want to see Shiroe meet his female avatar.
I probably read it on AnimeSuki or from your LHFF, I can't remember. I guess we'll have to wait and see when new stuff gets posted. Since there was just two chapters, I'd guess there would be at least a month or two until the next update. I don't know the timeline for how long it takes the volumes to get published once they're completed. I just stumbled upon Log Horizon either at the end of January or early February after finishing Sword Art Online. I watched the first couple of episodes and wasn't hooked. I decided to go and watch .Hack then came back to Log Horizon and binge watched it. After the first few episodes I got into it more. I caught up to the simicast around ep. 22 of season 22 and started looking for spoilers as I impatiently waited for the episode to be unlocked.
I plan on ordering vol. 2 from Amazon.ca. I haven't put in the order yet, I still have plenty of time. I can't afford the DVD sets but I can afford the books (the snippets I've seen of the English dub scare me).
In what I've been writing I've left out a lot of honorifics since I wasn't sure how to fit them in. I've dropped -san. I have Akatsuki calling Shiroe "my lord". I have Tohya saying stuff like "big bro Naotsugu". I have no clue how to make "Marie-nee" work so Shiroe just calls her Marie. Rudy just does the Mr. / Miss like he usually does. I do have Nyanta saying "nya" (I HATE the mews) and he calls people -chi. I could go in and add the -san but that's a lot to put in. I'm not sure if I'm missing anything...
Long-winded and rambling? That makes for the two of us. Just look for my LHFF Rants on LHFF and you'll see some of my rants (that I cut down so it would be easier to read).
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Tetora's in college. In my opinion, a lot of her mannerisms are pretty obviously faked/acting because she's totally immersed in "playing" her part as an idol. Mikakage, the small blonde Druid, is around college-age (she's in a specialized culinary school, which I'm assuming is post-high school) despite looking nothing like it. Nureha's only in high school, putting her in the same age group as Serara, Shoryuu, Isuzu, and William. All five of them have very distinct personalities and interests from each other due to their past experiences. I think Rudy's around 19 years old; he's the oldest of the "kids". (It might just be me or just Hara's art evolution, but I feel as though he 'aged' the most in the illustrations, between volume 3 and volume 8. If that's true, though, then that opens up some possibilities for depressing fics where Rudy realizes that his friends' bodies won't really change at all, while his continues aging since he's still a Lander.)
Mamare isn't exactly the most punctual updater or the most consistent publisher, so there can be months or years between publications depending on his pace. Occasionally, there are relatively huge gaps in updates.
I imported one Japanese BD, the first one for S2. Never again. It's so expensive. Don't get me wrong -- it was worth it for all the bonus material it had. But it was around $56 for the BD alone, and then shipping was another $12 or so. It's a nasty price to be spending on a show, and the bonus for purchasing all 8 or so BDs just isn't worth it. I'm not interested in getting Sentai's BDs; if I was buying anything for the anime, I'd still rather import the Japanese ones, since they have more bonus content. Most of the best extras are limited to the first press (which is why it's so expensive), but it's better than getting next to nothing from Sentai's.
My longest fic, Let's Go Adventuring, Okay?, hasn't gotten all of LH's members yet (since the focus is on the Tea Party members). But I rarely ever use Japanese honorifics in my own writing. It just reads oddly, which is probably why I'm fine with Yen Press translations -- some people criticize the fact that they drop the Japanese honorifics, but I honestly believe that it wouldn't make sense for them to keep them. I keep the 'nya' like you do. 'Mew' or 'meow' just doesn't make sense when his name is Nyanta.
In my LHxFE8 script, Naotsugu calls Maryelle "Mari". Akatsuki calls Shiroe "my liege" just because Lord's an actual class in-game. It's kinda weird having to replace almost all mentions of "Krusty" to "Krescentius" (with the exception of when Rayneshia, Pianississimo, or William say it, since they call him Krusty), but I don't think I'd be able to take the script seriously if people in-game were saying "Prince Krusty" with a straight face.
First of all... but "Prince Krusty" would be so amusing! lol
And using liege makes sense in that instance. :)
I've read random stuff on LHFF but not everything. I can't say what I've read and what I haven't since there are a lot of posts. I think I tried to read through all the actual ones labeled "Fun Fact" at once point but I don't remember if I got them all. I'm not sure how many rants I've read. In my search for LH spoilers I've read a lot of stuff in a lot of places.
Yeah, I made Tet college age (barely) in my fanfic collection (they're all interrelated stories so I'll just call it a collection). That would put her about a year younger than Akatsuki (I think). I'm a little unsure on their ages/birthdays... like was Akatsuki 20 when she ended up there or turned 20 that July so when they gave her age in the Libra Festival volume she was 20 then? My thought is that since it's unknown how time passes in their own world that since a year has passed for them in that one, they're all a year older. I'm a bit confused by the twins as well. It's stated that they're in the 2nd year of middle school & since the school year starts in April and their birthday is only in Sept., they should be 13 at the start since 2nd year is ages 13-14. Since I just read vol. 3, when she introduced herself to her party after several failed attempts at the dungeon she says she's 14, though that's in Aug. so her birthday hasn't passed just yet.
Anyway, my original thought were the twins were 13 at the start, Isuzu is 3 years older so 16 and I figured Rudy was a year or so older than her since he is the oldest of the group. So "one year later" I have Rudy at 18.... and Tet at 19 going on 20 (since her birthday is in May and most the stories take place around the time Season 2 ends).
I wonder if they will age since the world is become more real. If voices are changing, distances getting further, etc. it is possible they will age, though that would mean there were a finite number of adventures unless they procreate since they'd probably die of old age eventually. Just a possibility, though unlikely.
I guess we just have to sit and wait for new stuff to be published. I'm just impatient. lol
Yeah, I wouldn't import the DVDs/Blu-rays, too expensive. I did consider getting the soundtrack vol. 2 though but haven't yet. That image really does amuse me and I like the music. I mainly would want to get the US released ones to support the series over here but it's expensive and it sucks that there are no extras with it.
Yeah, the honorifics don't work so well in English.
Eeep... 10 minutes over my break time at work... I'll just be quiet now and get back to work.
LHxFE8 siblings: Risselthea, Raynesia, Icelus, and ... Krusty XD
I don't even remember what's on my own blog, either. I have to use the search button on the blog-popout-viewer thing (when you click on a person's icon on the dashboard, it shows up instead of taking you directly to their page ... at least for me) to find things, or my own tags. I just remember my rants because I like ranting. Probably gonna write up another one about S1 vs. S2 and why I like S2's plot more (since that's relatively the less popular opinion).
Akatsuki was 20 when the Catastrophe hit. I don't know enough about Japan's school system so you're probably the better expert in regards to Minori and Tohya. I have her listed as 17 at the moment, although I'm not sure if that's supposed to be her real-life age or her post-Catastrophe-birthday age.
Since ET lore is becoming 'real', given that Adventurers didn't age in lore ... it's possible that they still won't. Mamare, at the time of one of the Q&As (end of S1, volume 7 published I think), said that "not enough time has passed to tell". If anything, it's still extremely slow growth. However, hair seems to grow as normal.
CDJapan, from what I've seen, has the cheapest prices for LH stuff. The Settings Book is only ~$21 (not including shipping), compared to ~$50 elsewhere. But there's only one in stock now, gahh!!!! I can't buy it at the moment, hopefully they restock it come end of August. (Both the OSTs and the Settings Books are the same price, 2500 yen, and I'm pretty sure they have them all in stock.)
Hmmm...now just how did an adventure because a sibling to Landers. lol. I saw your post where you said you changed his name to fit better with the others. Prince Krusty sounds amusing though.
Well I'm really new to tumblr so I'm not sure how to do much. I have searched your posts using the tags of the characters' names and stuff.
So you're just going to rant about it since it's the less popular opinion?
I honestly don't know why there were so many complaints about Season 2. I liked it. People kept blaming Deen for everything but when I looked stuff up I could see that it followed the novels pretty well (other than the Valentine's episode. I saw a lot of people complain about the kids and some even said they shouldn't be in the series never mind have their own story arc (and apparently some people didn't watch those episodes at all). Personally I prefer the older group but the kids' trip was important. My biggest issue with season 2 was that the whole Kanami volume was one episode. She honestly kind of annoys me but I was confused during that episode (especially concerning KR & the dragon) and it was only by reading stuff on sites like this and the LN thread in animesuki that things made more sense. Overall, I liked it.
I did some research on the Japanese school system when writing my story of Tet's past. Pretty much 2nd year of middle school would be 8th grade and the school years starts in April and ends in the middle of March. Therefore, at the time of the Catastrophe, the school year was just only about a month in.
And Isuzu says she's 3 years older than Minori so if Minori was 13, she was 16 or 14 and 17. As for Akatsuki, did it give her age at the beginning or was her age only given along with her 'date' outfit?
The ages/birthdays just have me a little confused stuff but it's possible they didn't all have birthdays when Mamare started writing and he just added them in later.
Yeah, not enough time has passed to tell much other than things are changing. I guess we may or may not find out depending what Mamare decides... maybe even he's not sure at this point.
With hair growing and their bodies functioning like human bodies (need food, sleep, bathroom, etc), which wasn't the case before the Catastrophe, anything is possible.
I forgot to comment on Rudy last time. I did notice he does look older in the more recent illustrations. I thought the twins looked a little older too but maybe that was just in the anime and a result of the different company. I'd have to check my saved images when I get home from work.
So expensive. I just checked the shipping and it's between $12.50 and $40 depending on the type of shipping.
LHxFE8 drops the whole Adventurer/Lander thing. It's basically an AU where the characters just got plopped into the places of FE8's characters, hence Tohya and Minori being Isaac's kids when they have no relation to him whatsoever in LH.
I'm going to rant about it since most people think that S2 was "all filler," when it's most definitely not. Was the storytelling botched in S2? Maybe, but we can't say that it was "definitely" DEEN's fault, or if it's because they wanted to keep the family-friendly nature (DEEN adding blood came as a really big surprise for most of those who were expecting a bloodless second season). To me, the contents of volumes 6-10 (S2) are the more compelling pieces of information than we get in v1-5 (S1). Season 1 was just setup, and then Season 2 starts carrying the storyline into more interesting places. The problem is, a lot of the connections between parts in S2 become jumbled or lost because of the way the story was presented and/or because they had to make it more kid-friendly. A ton of people were complaining about Tet's reveal as a boy in real life, saying that it's a negative depiction of being trans, etc., whereas by looking at it from the light novel perspective, it makes a ton of sense. In terms of the light novel, she's the second character introduced that played as a character of the opposite gender, and the first who actually stayed in that body. It ties into volume 6's reveal that Roderick's lab has developed a new appearance changing potion that allows people to change back into their real-world genders; there are some people who don't want to adjust to their new bodies, but at the same time, there are people who are completely fine with it like Tet. It also leads to volume 8's conflict with the Odyssey Knights, who are obsessed with returning to the old world because, unlike Tet, they couldn't adjust to this world even after nearly a year. However, the anime cut out the mention of the appearance-changing potions for whatever reason (at least, that I remember), so it kinda makes Tet's reveal out of the blue.
Season 2 also expands on the animosity between Eastal and Westelande, which was only introduced at the end of S1. One thing that a lot of casual watchers seem to miss is the fact that Adventurers aren't just affecting Adventurers -- they're also changing the Landers' way of living, and not just with food. Mizufa's entire purpose in volume 8 is how she's taking Adventurers' advancements and using them to gain an advantage over Eastal. It's also why Shiroe feels a need to smoothen relations with Westelande before he deals with the Genius; Eastal, and more importantly Akiba, probably won't be able to handle a two-pronged attack by both Westelande and the Genius.
I think Akatsuki's age was given around volume 1. Only her birthday was listed in her cake date profile in volume 5. I have to check, though -- some of my info comes from the Japanese wiki and as such, I honestly don't know.
I think the twins just look a little more mature, but not really that much older (in the light novel, art evolution also is in play). In S1, they were made to look really young. I prefer DEEN's style for them, which actually makes them look their age.
Shipping is usually based on weight/package size, I think? It definitely was only around $12 for me, there's no way it'd go all the way up to $40 for a BD.
I realised it's AU, I was just kind of joking around. I guess it didn't sound like that. Sorry about that. [edit: I accidentally ended up with this part bold and I can't seem to get it to just be normal text. sorry]
Yeah, I saw a lot of people complaining about "filler". I think a lot of the edits to make it more family-friendly were probably due to the station it was being aired on more than the company making it.
I agree completely about he season 1 setting up the world and season 2 being a more middle part to the story. I guess any television verion of a book won't be perfect. I like how it added some things but it left out some important points too.
Yeah, Tet being a boy seemed to be a big point. I saw the trans comments. We don't know her mindset at all (not even a small portion of the LN was from her POV) so we can't assume she's trans. Also, a lot of other people insisted she was a trap. Male with a female character isn't a trap...if it was a boy character that gets mistaken for a girl, then that's a trap. They also keep calling her "he" (which annoys me to no end, especially since she refers to herself as a girl). My mind is Tet in real life = he, Tet in that world = she. Anyway, they did totally leave out the part about the Minor Apparance Reset potions in the anime...no clue why. It pretty much leaves out the fact that Tet could choose to be a boy but decided to stick with the body she had (though that doesn't mean she's trans and wanted to be a girl in the other world, it just means she wanted to stay the way she was for whatever reason).
One think I wonder about is if they're changing to match their avatars, what does that mean for them if they get back home? If their personalities are changing... I'm sure Tet is a lot more girly than she was a year before (my guess is that they put in her fixing her nails in episode 22 to show she's being girly...and it's when she's serious and not in 'idol' mode). What would that do to her if she went home and happened to be a boy again if her personality was now more female? What about people playing other races? I have a feeling that Nyanta's 'nya's might be automatic now since that's the way cat people talk... if he went home he might be randomly nya-ing in conversations. Sorry for the tangent, I'm just wondering about the psychological implications. (Also, based on the anime, I think that Tet started out teasing Nao but might actually fall for him since she goes overboard on some of the stuff and keeps doing it even when he doesn't react... I don't know... maybe I'm delusional.)
They do sort of indicate the Lander's world is changing with how Maihama has become a lot more like Akiba but yeah, they really didn't explain Mizufa way of thinking other than that she wanted war and was willing to use people to do it.
I like the twins looking more their age than like little kids. Yeah, it might be more maturity than actually looking older.
Well their was a shipping thing on the link you gave an there were different prices based on the method of shipment. I think there was like a 1-3 day delivery or something that was almost $40. I can't remember exactly but there were a lot of different options and some were expensive. I compared the price of the soundtrack vol. 2 there with shipping with amazon.ca and it ended up to be a couple of dollars less overall but CDs had much lower shipping rates than the book did.
I like the pre-Catastrophe lives post you did on tumblr. I kept seeing that Naotsugu had a dog on the japanese sites but that's the first time I've seen it listed on something in English. I totally forgot reading that he had a dog (I wonder what happened to it when the Catastrope happened)...anyway, I need to go back and add it into my little Naotsugu story. I've also notice in the japanese stuff I've read through google translate (though I can't remember where I read it exactly) it seems to say that Tet reminds Nao of the DTP...not sure if she reminds him of someone who was in it or if it's more that she's just the type of person who would have fit in well with the group. I haven't seen that mentioned on any English sites either.
Sorry it this is a little disjointed I wrote it over the course of an hour since I got interrupted a few times.
No, I'm just dense as a rock and so jokes tend to fly over my head. It's happened. A lot. (Also, bolded words in Wikitext is '''in here'''. Removing the three apostrophes should fix it. Two apostrophes around a phrase italicizes it.)
Neither adaption was pristine perfect, but S2 seems to get demonized more than S1 is. It doesn't help that there's a portion of watchers who 1) only watched the anime, and 2) marathoned S1 but then followed S2 on a week-by-week basis. Watching LH week-by-week rather than marathoning it will definitely give you a different impression.
People in the west too quickly label things. With Tet, she was either "trans" or a "trap," but as you said, it's really neither. Tet was a boy in real life who was simply trapped in a female avatar after the Catastrophe, and adjusted to it. She identifies as a girl now, or at the very least, just doesn't care. Japanese discussion boards didn't question whether she was trans or not. It's simply that "he" now is a "she," and she's fine with it. Tet probably decided to roleplay the part of a "cute idol girl," just like Nyanta adds his "nyas" to roleplay a cat person.
As for Nyanta, not all Werecats say 'nya'. It's just Nyanta's little gimmick, and it's something he did even during the DTP days. Boss Bolognese, the puny Werecat in Silver Sword, never says 'nya' (and he's even voiced by Jouji Nakata, who voices Nyanta). So unless he's just so used to tacking it on, he probably won't keep that habit when he returns to the real world. Other Werecats, assuming that they aren't doing the same thing, speak like normal. However, the idea of personalities changing to match the bodies was the primary reason why the new appearance changing potion was developed -- there was a number of people who did notice changes, and wanted to change back as a result. Returning to the real world would definitely require adjusting back to their original bodies, though; they'll likely have the same problems they did when they first arrived in this world.
The thing about Naotsugu in the anime is that he doesn't seem to have as tight a relationship with Maryelle than the light novel does. In volume 7, one of Shiroe's concerns about Tet was that she was "intruding" on Nao/Mari (and the members of LH practically ship that, canon). One of my biggest issues with episode 13 of S2 was how forced the romance and anti-romance were: it favored the Akatsuki/Minori/Shiroe/(Kanami) aspect, but then pushed aside the (more canon) Nao/Mari pairing. I don't think Tetora really will ever have romantic feelings for Naotsugu, for the same reason that Isuzu and Rudy haven't really had any romantic "rivals," she just likes doing things that people could interpret as such. (Sorry if you're a Tet/Nao shipper. My interpretation is just speculation, anyways.)
One other part that I'm quite certain was omitted from the anime -- Landers can now use EXP Pots. Before, it was impossible to simply trade with Landers: it was always selling things to them, and EXP Pots couldn't be sold. Now, though, it's a different story, and Mizufa gets a hold of some for her Lander Summoners to use. It apparently causes them quite a bit of pain (Adventurers, having stronger bodies, don't feel it, I suppose) and was thus banned by Kazuhiko, but she doesn't care and goes along with it anyways. So it's not even just what the Adventurers do, but the general changes in the world that are influencing Landers.
Oh, yeah, I went with the cheapest shipping method. I think it took me roughly 4-6 weeks for my package to arrive. I didn't give a link for the CDs (I don't know if you found them), but I don't know if shipping rates are any different.
Naotsugu having a dog was mentioned in volume 7, maybe? That, or I got it from the Japanese sites. I remember Naotsugu's side in volume 7 chapter 1, though, when I was writing his and Shiroe's blurbs. I just read about Tet reminding Naotsugu of the DTP as well; probably on the Japanese wiki? To be honest, I forgot where I read that, too. I think it means that she reminds him of the general dynamic and personality, but she also acts a bit like Kanami as well.
Yeah I guess marathoning vs week-by-week wouold make a difference. I marathoned the whole thing from season 1.1 to 2.21 and then I had to wait. I also looked up spoilers and novel info and stuff. I actually got more into it with season 2. For some reason I didn't really have a favourite character but when when Tet fell into the series she made me laugh and for some reason that was just what I needed. I also wasn't a big fan of Nao's in season 1. I like him better in s.2 probably partly due to his interactions with Tet but not sure exactly.
I've seen people ask in Japanese if Tet was male in real life or had a male avatar and the answer was always the first one. Anyway, Tet is happy being the pretty, conceited, idol and climbing all over Nao. I just find people in the west are too Trap obesessed.
True. I just remember Nyanta telling Shiroe that the 'nya' was the way werecats talk, I didn't notice the other ones didn't speak that way. Now I feel silly.
I need to read volumes 4-6 to see what Nao/Marie stuff might be there. In 7 he definitely liked Marie but it seemed like he found Tet attactive (though her conceited attitude annoyed him). I just find it a little odd that if he's so into Marie, why does he compare this girl he just met to her and Marie wins due to volume (and panties in the LN..has he seen her panties? I'm not sure what this means). It's pretty shallow that she only wins by volume if he's so in love with her.
LOL I still like Tet & Nao together though I like him with Marie too (and he does seem to go for Marie in the anime)... in my stories he's kind of torn between the two (though he has realised the thing he finds the most annoying about Tet is just her idol roleplay and not really her)... I kind of ship him with with both the girls. He freaks out about the stuff Marie does in Season 1 as much as he does with Tet in Season 2. I'm torn... With Shiroe it's easy, I ship him with Akatsuki for several reasons. In any case, Tet needs more friends...she kind of sticks to Nao like glue most of the time.
I heard about the EXP Pots somewhere...maybe in was in the part of the what I read in vol. 7. I know there was something in the anime that Kazu didn't want them doing but I don't think it was clear as to what exactly was going on.
I looked up the CD from the link to the book that you gave.
I don't remember the dog being mentioned in what I read in vol. 7 but I haven't read all of it. I've read bits & pieces of it (mostly the Tet x Nao parts but a few other parts as well). I'll read the whole thing eventually but I want to read 4-6 first.
And the DTP thing was probably on the japanese wiki... it's quite possible. Maybe she's a little like Kanami, but no one but Kanami is Kanami...she's special. I don't think anyone is as crazy as she is. lol
Anime!Naotsugu isn't as good as LN!Naotsugu. Anime!Naotsugu is almost wholly there either to say "You can do it" or "Panties! (kicked)". LN!Naotsugu gets both of them, but he also has some pretty good lines, such as the one in volume 2 after Shoryuu asks him about levels. He still says the panties line, but his little speech after that, which was actually serious, was good. He and Maryelle are both like that; while they can be humorous and less serious, they shine when there's a need. It just so happens that almost all of Naotsugu's best lines in S1 got cut out, making him somewhat bland.
As for Naotsugu's relationship with Mari and Tet, I think he just said Mari won because of her chest because he didn't know Tet well enough to really judge her by anything else, and because making off-color jokes is his thing. Shiroe often muses that Naotsugu had an off-color remark for just about any situation, and that was probably one of them. He also stated that Naotsugu likes talking about panties and the like, but he's all just talk. When faced with a situation where a girl actually acts on his perverted talk, he instantly shies away (which is why he reacts in similar ways to Mari and Tet; both of them are outgoing and aren't shy about their femininity).
EXP Pots were mentioned in volume 8, so you might've read it on AnimeSuki. I'm pretty sure they weren't in volume 7.
The only person as crazy as Kanami is Indicus, but she's a completely different kind of crazy, and not in a good way.
Yeah, I watched the anime first so that was my first impression of him. I didn't find him interesting until season 2. So far in the LN he's fine & I actually like him (usually... didn't he call Marie stupid at one point or insinuate she was? Then again in vol. 3 I just read Henrietta saying that Marie isn't too smart, she has looks & not much brains, there was a but in there but I can't remember it right now.) And Naotsugu doesn't say "Panties! (kicked)" It's more like "Pan...(kicked)" They never let him finish the word in the anime. Anyway, he comes across as pretty much a pervert without much substance, but in the LN when you can see his thoughts and what Shiro says about him, there's much more to him. It's weird that he only became perverted after college though. Wasn't there something about him making the off-color jokes to ease the tension or something?
Yeah, I know he's all talk and gets flustured easily when a girl hits on him (which makes it really amusing). I still don't know why he even compared the girls since Tet and Re-Gan had no clue what he was talking about and he apparently got really loud. He was already making comments that hot pants could be concidered panties so there was his panties talk. Though apparently he thought about Marie when he was with Tet often (maybe due to their similarities)... I have a feeling he didn't really tell Marie about Tet at all. She seemed clueless about who the new girl was in the anime. I think Nao freaked out about Tet joining mostly because he was kind of like "oh great, Marie's going to find out I had a pretty girl with me the entire time... I'm screwed" more than anything specifically to do with Tet since she seems to be good at what she does (except singing).
I've read the translated parts of vol 8 so if it was in those then that's where I've seen it, otherwise maybe it was on AnimeSuki.
Yeah, Indicus is definitely crazy... I'm really curious how things will play out now that Nureha and Kazu have defied her. And just how did someone who hates everyone get into the DTP? I wonder what the others thought of her. I don't think many had much to say about her in that chart.
He said that she lacked common sense and was too open about "stuff" (namely, telling him that he could touch her breasts when she hadn't even known him for a day). Which Henrietta (and Shiroe) agreed with. Mari herself says that she isn't very smart, and that she usually leaves the more intensive stuff to Henrietta. In spite of that, because of her personality, Shiroe mentions in the first volume that she was one of Akiba's best sources of information despite only being the guild master of a medium-sized guild. And yes, Naotsugu said them in the beginning of the series to ease tension.
From volume 7, I felt that he didn't really freak out, he was just surprised because it was out-of-the-blue. Tet didn't mention wanting to join the guild to him at all, and directly asked Shiroe despite being more familiar with Naotsugu. I don't really remember that part, though. Also, Tet broke the news in the middle of the battle, so it's unexpected for someone you met recently, with no ties to anyone in the guild, to join (since all the other members of LH knew at least one other person in the guild before joining). I'm pretty sure Naotsugu didn't mention Tet to Mari, though.
I don't think that part's been translated yet. AS is the best bet. It's a pity neither aohige nor Estavali give spoilers anymore, but I guess they saw it redundant given that the anime basically spoiled the entire thing.
Indicus doesn't seem deterred by anything, so she's probably going to try and manipulate the situation into her favor (if her smirk in episode 25 is any indication). I think Indicus was likely one of the original members of the DTP, since she was Kanami's adviser prior to Shiroe joining, and her hatred towards Kanami after the DTP disbanded might be out of a sense of debt (like "I've done so much for you and built up the group to its current heights, and now you abandon me"). I think there were 4 things about her: Kanami said "So serious~", Kazu was worried about her, Shiroe thought she was capable, and Suikazura said that she's a "silly girl" (or, depending on the translation, "stupid child". I like the latter translation.).
Yeah, I couldn't remember exactly what was said. I know Shiroe said she had a lot of friends and therefore was a great source of info. He also liked to compare her smile to a sunflower...
I guess so. He was surprised. Yeah, her timing to tell him was a little odd but I thought it was pretty obvious that she was going to join, he just didn't seem to understand what she was talking about (it was even more obvious in the LN than in the anime). For some reason when Nao was talking about the guild being a family and Shiro wanting to protect his home & all that, I got the feel Tet liked the sentiment and would join. In the the LN it was even more amusing since he just started talking about that stuff because he didn't want to tell Tet he was thinking about Marie (though I'm not sure why not). In the end she said something along the lines of having made the right decision in being there and that she'd follow it through to the end even if it meant leaving Light Indigo. Nao had no clue what she was talking about and just agreed with her or something. I thought that her saying she'd leave her guild made it a good hint that she was thinking about joining but I guess he missed the hint. Also, by the time she joins the guild she probably knew Nao pretty well since they apparently spend a lot of time together during the raid.
It was probably there. I miss the spoilers. The AnimeSuki LN thread is the only forum I bookmarked because it was the one I found the most informative and seemed to have the nicest people. It would be nice to know what differences there are between the anime & the vol. 10 stuff. Reading it through google translate makes it hard to tell. I don't know if the part where Marie pushes Tet then falls in the hole with Toyha & Hien happens... I didn't notice it (though after being saved by Marie I wonder if Tet will back off a bit and leave Nao & Marie alone, or maybe she'll go after Marie instead of Nao LOL)
LOL nice pun on her name. That would make sense. I'm not sure who came before who in the DTP other than Shiroe was one of the later ones and Soujiro joined after him. I'm sure she'll try something, I'm just curious to see what.
"Sunflower of Akiba" is her nickname for a reason, after all.
Oh, right, I forgot about that part, where he was talking to her about LH and Shiroe. I think he avoided mentioning Maryelle because Tet would likely pry into it instantly, and it's awkward to tell someone about your relationship with a person they don't know, especially when you're not quite official yet. Naotsugu was probably preoccupied with keeping her away from the topic of Maryelle/who talks with to really notice what she was saying.
The part about Mari saving Tet ... is that in episode 24? I haven't watched it yet (in the process of it right now). I'm at the part where the Round Table is discussing what to do about Calling Fortress. That researcher in the foreground was hilarious, panicking as the machine overheats and shuts down, only for nobody to notice.
The only ones I'm relatively sure of are Kanami/Indicus/Naotsugu(?)/Nyanta(?)/Kazu(?) came before Shiroe. Soujiro joined after Shiroe did, and then Kurama joined after Souji (he probably joined in order to "learn" from Souji), and probably a fair number of the girls swooning over Souji joined after he did as well.
Yup. (and which is why I had Nao give her a bouquet of flowers that was primarily sunflowers in the fic I'm currently writing).
He did say that if Tet wanted to talk about something she wouldn't let up until he told her. She does like gossip and such. I guess he only half pays attention to her sometimes.
Yeah, that's in episode 24. Yeah, those random people are amusing and everyone else is oblivious. I liked the last little story arc of Season 2. The raid seemed a little short after the long ones earlier in the season but overall it was amusing. I think the best part are the faces on the DTP members when they hear Kanami's voice. Nyanta's expression rarely changes and it definitely changed here.
Okay. It'd be interesting to have some stories about the DTP when they were active and find out more about the other members.
Anyway, sorry for being so chatty. I hope I'm not annoying you.
Sometimes with really talkative people, it becomes easy to miss things they say. Maybe that happened to Naotsugu.
Well, it makes sense for the raid to be short-- they were short on time, after all. I also appreciate how they finally depicted Shiroe's informed flaw: that he's not good at strategizing on the spot. He usually has to go in with a plan, and then adjust it as it happened. Rushing into the raid blind threw him off-kilter.
There was actually a short story that Mamare wrote for some bonus (buying all the season 1 DVDs? Or all of the light novel volumes that had been sold up to that point?) that was about a Tea Party real-life gathering. The only ones present were Kanami, Naotsugu, KR, Shiroe, Suikazura, and Indicus (by tablet). Shiroe and KR usually had to make arrangements when Kanami ordered a meeting; Shiroe would gather everybody and plan it, and KR paid for everything.
Oh, and you're not annoying me at all. I look forward to your responses. Nobody's been this talkative about Log Horizon with me, and Log Horizon is a series that designed for discussion.
Yeah, that might be it. I know people seem to tune her out sometimes and she just keeps going (like with Marie in ep. 23 or when she's singing just before the kids leave ep.15?). She doesn't even seem to realise it. I know that has happened to me before, I've been talking and then realise that no one is listening and promptly stop talking, usually in the middle of sentence and no one notices.
Yeah, true but there just seemed to be a big build-up for a short raid. It seemed intense though. I know a lot of people were complaining that it was stupid that the kids got to go since they were so many levels below the others. They seemed to hold their own pretty good though. I agree, I like that it showed that Shiroe isn't perfect. He was indecisive and didn't have a clear idea of what he wanted or time to plan. Once he knew what he wanted and made a plan he was back on track.
I really loved the Nao/Akatsuki combo move too... though then Nao got all the attention (at least from the clerics). I don't know about Marie was doing but Tet's crazy if she wants a turn to be thrown at enemies since she wanted a turn too [she did get to be a flying idol when she jumped off the building though, whereas Marie looked terrified]. Throwing clerics at enemies does not seem like a good strategy to me. Several others seemed impressed by the combo & by Akatsuki.
Yeah, I think I read that there was a short story but I haven't seen much about it. Is it bad I want more stories about them? They seem to be an interesting group.
I think I annoyed some people by talking about Log Horizon too much (like the one who offered to beta read my stories but hasn't read much). I've tried to avoid the subject mostly. She borrowed the LN vol.1 from me and returned it the following week saying she couldn't get into it and that it was too hard to read.
Anyway, I'm a little weird... I'm shy and quiet most of the time but I can get hyper and talkative. LH seems to make me hyper for some reason.
I also have some uncommon opinions about some stuff, like I like Tet & Nao (and think either Tet has a bit of a crush on Nao and he seems to find her attractive but is more interested in Marie) and wonder about stuff like the psychological effects and such.
Well, I thought Shiroe gave a pretty valid reason in the episode. They didn't collapse from the MP-draining moths, so they likely could keep up. Also, Shiroe probably knew their capabilities, so it would be easier to have them work with him instead of having a team that was new to him. He already struggled with adjusting to seven or so unfamiliar players, as we saw.
One could probably get away with throwing Coppelia, the dual-shield Cleric, if they could get her off the ground first (her "dress" is actually full armor. She's really heavy).
I want the girls to be more fleshed out than "zomg Soujiroooooo". Aside from physical descriptions, that's the most we know about them (aside from, obvs, Nazuna/Kanami/Indicus/Suikazura).
Until the series is dead and gone, I probably won't get tired of LH for a long time. That's just the kind of person I am. I'm not in a lot of fandoms, but if I really like something, I just hone in on that one series.
True. I've seen people say that it was a pretty convenient reason and stupid. I don't think he would have brought them along if he didn't think they could handle it. It just bothers me that so many people seem to hate the younger members.
LOL. That would be amusing to see. For some reason I could see Kanami wanting to try it. "Let's try throwing her! Or better yet, throw me at the enemies!" Coppelia is definitely an interesting case. Just how does a bot gain sentience? If it's not a fool using the body then how did it come about?
Yeah. I don't get why everyone is so crazy about Souji. It seems that most of the girls that's their only reason for existing: to be part of Souji's harem. Why are they so crazy about him when he's not really interested in him and just seems to think "girls are for protecting". Sure, he's a cute guy and a good fighter but why are they all in love with him?
Anyway, it would be interesting to see a story about their adventures together (and not just a real life meeting with a few members). Some of those comments on the chart need a little more explaining (or at least I think so).
Lol. I haven't been really interested in anything for quite some time so the fact I'm so into LH is a bit of a rarity. I also don't usually write fanfiction. I usually write fantasy stories or just more general stuff. I have a whole story world that encompasses both (part of is that some people end up in a fantasy world and are trying to find their way home but they need to save the world along the way... sound familiar?) Anyway, there's a bit more to it than that but that's the short version. I was a little stuck in that story so put it aside and decided to write a LH fanfic, which has led to a series of them. I should probably give up on the fanfics and get back to that story since the characters are probably way out of character and I'm off in left field as to other people's opinions and interests. I just have a tendency to start writing and then the characters start talking and it goes off in ways I don't intend it to. I also like Rudy. He was one of my favourites in season 1 but I can't seem to write him. He's around often but doesn't say much because I can't think of anything Rudy-esque to have him say.
I mean, the kids aren't my favorite characters in the show (Minori especially, although it's less her and more about what Mamare decided to do with her relationship with Shiroe). But volume 8 had a lot of pretty plot-heavy stuff, and most people disregard that just because the kids were in it so it's automatically "filler". The one thing about LH is that nothing is filler. Except for episode 13, but that's another rant of mine.
I'd always thought that Coppelia and Roe2 were a similar case, until Roe2 was revealed to be used by a Fool, unlike Coppelia. I'm guessing that, since the world of Theldesia (might) already have had Empathiom prior to the Catastrophe, that Coppelia "absorbed" some during the Catastrophe and that's how she got sentience. It's all speculation, though.
I don't know why people are crazy about Souji, whether it's in-game or in meta (some people, on my masterpost, added in the tags things like "so sad that there's nothing about Souji"). I guess there are just some people who like the "cute, nice, strong boys" and don't really care about anything else. The DTP chart needs a second part, because not everyone's on there either.
I'm not much of a fan fic writer either. I haven't even worked on LGAO in a couple of months (seven? Yeah, seven) because I lose inspiration quickly when I get stuck in a certain part. In fact, Rudy should be appearing in the chapter I'm working on now (chapter 10), but I can't figure out how to get the DTP from the dungeon over to the town where Rudy and Isuzu appear. There used to be someone that would talk out ideas with me, but he gradually lost interest in the show and I lost inspiration for my fan fic.
Yeah, agreed. I don't get why people hate the kids though. They're not my favorites but still their story is important (for their development and the for plot development). I think the Minori/Shiroe part is what annoys me the most about her. It's more of a student with a crush on her teacher so I hope she gets over it and it's done.
Episode 13 was filler even if it was from the Nyanta manga. I liked seeing them interact with each other outside of a battle/crises situation but yeah. Another thing about that episode is that Tohya and Rudy discuss about Tet being a boy and stuff... as far as I can see, in the LN, only Shiroe knows (or at least mentions it). I didn't really see the point of that part other than to make Nao & Marie look stupid for being the only ones who don't know.
I hope we get a little more info about Coppelia in vol. 11 (if it is a Kanami & friends vol.). I missed Krusty too so I hope he's around more now that they know where he is (though since Kanami isn't supposed to meet up with Shiroe until near the end I doubt he'll be seeing the Princess or the DDD members for a bit).
I guess. Maybe there will be another chart in the next Kanami volume. Or maybe Mamare will eventually do another side story about the DTP and give a more complete chart and more information.
LGAO? I would assume that's your DTP story.
If you need help with stuff I can try and help but I can't guarantee I'll be successful at helping.
People are stuck on the mentality that "not the main hero" = "filler", which is a mentality that does not work at all with Log Horizon. Episode 13 is all in all a storytelling travesty, in my opinion. People in the west flipped their shit over the episode title (A Sweet Trap), too, because of Tet's reveal. Some people on tumblr are still griping over that, which is absolutely ridiculous. I was hoping the episode, when I first heard the title several weeks before it aired, would be about Nureha and how she took over Minami (the title was perfect for that), but that entire part was cut out of the anime. A wasted opportunity. It's one of the times I wished that LH wasn't airing on a kid-friendly channel.
I've never understood Krusty's popularity, perhaps because I can't stand people like him and so I don't care for him. Honestly I don't like the Rayneshia/Krusty romantic ship either. I can't see it for my life. I also don't find him particularly attractive, which is a big reason for his popularity with female watchers of the show.
Yeah, LGAO is my abbreviation for Let's Go Adventuring, Okay? (it's quite a mouthful to type out every time). You can read it on Google Docs.
Yeah. Technically Shiroe is the "main hero" but nearly everyone else is important as well. I guess people don't understand the concept of an ensemble cast as opposed to SAO's Kirito will do everything along, save everyone and get all the girls.
Oh, a Nureha taking over Minami episode would have been nice. It would have been nice to see more of them. They never really explained Ga-tan at all. I only knew who she was because I looked stuff up (unlike most people who watched it). I really want to know more about Light Indigo and it's connection to the Wolves of Mibu & Kazuhiko. All conversations about the guild and the wolves were dropped in the anime.
The title of that episode bothers me mostly because people associate it with Tet and she isn't a trap. The episode could have been better. I'm still wondering how Tet even knew Marielle had an apron never mind how she knew to borrow it and have it ready for the Shiroe-lovers. I'll just end it at that...
Yeah, I think it would have been a lot better if it wasn't on a kid-friendly channel. Who knews what will happen if we get a season 3.
I don't know. Maybe I liked Krusty because he was so prominately featured in the second half of season 1. He was one of the characters I liked better, probably because he amused me in the way he made the princess annoyed at him. He says she reminds him of his sister so unless he has a romantic relationship with his sister... Anyway, I also liked Rudy in season one because I found him funny. I probably liked him the best out of all the kids. I really didn't have a favourite until Tet came along. She's the type that either annoys me to no end or I like...and for some reason I like her. I think part of it was that I was really depressed at the time I started season 2 and she, Nao & Re-Gan made me laugh when I hadn't laughed in awhile. (I'm still not sure how much I trust Re-Gan, sometimes he seems find and sometimes he seems a little shady).
Nice title. For some reason it reminds me of something that Kanami would say. I'll have to read it sometime. Thanks for the link.
With a title like "Sweet Trap," which was basically how Nureha manipulated the people of Minami into following her, I was really let down by the fact that it was all filler, non-canon stuff. If it had even followed the manga version with Minori and Akatsuki helping each other as friends and not rivals (and no stupid flavor text love fruit), I would've been happy -- but no, it was decided that it'd be the equivalent of the cake episode (which itself had very mixed reactions with the western fandom). Episode 13 is just one of the episodes I can complain about forever. They may as well have split volume 9 into two episodes, and that would still have been better than what we got.
Having it aired on NHK is a blessing and a curse. A blessing, in that this is how it got funded even though it didn't sell tremendously (although for an NHK show, it had remarkable sales). A curse, in that the more mature content gets inevitably cut, and some concepts repeated till the end of time. Although apparently the latter still doesn't help drill it into some peoples' heads.
I like Rudy, since he views these events in a different light as a Lander. Him and Isuzu are one of my favorite pairings in LH (and it's Mamare's favorite as well). I don't really like the whole 'dog' thing, but it's passable.
I'm sorry to hear about your depression, but I'm glad that LH was able to cheer you up at least a little bit. Usually I don't like characters with Tet's personality, but I found her to be fine. ReGan's a strange character for sure. He said that his mentor had died, but we now know that his mentor's alive and well, and is working for Plant Hwyaden (and on top of that, his mentor stole some important item from the Mirror Lake libraries). At the same time, though, he seems pretty genuine about helping Shiroe. Eins is set up as the (really obvious) spy for Minami (as "Agent One" ... when Eins means 'one'), and Shiroe even calls him out on that in episode 24, but I'm kinda hoping that it's a red herring designed to place suspicions on Eins instead of the real culprit, while his case isn't helped in the slightest due to his recent stance on issues in the Round Table.
I kinda feel bad for Eins come volume 10. His guild is probably taking the Catastrophe the worst, especially with Krusty's disappearance. No matter which path he chooses, Akiba or Minami, Honesty will take the worst of it unless they find a way home, and fast. He has legitimate complaints, but most of the other people in the Round Table brush it off because his solutions aren't any more beneficial to Akiba as a whole.
Yeah a Nureha episode would have been better than the valentine's one. It had a couple of moments I liked and others that I didn't. The whole competition between Akatsuki and Minori is annoying. It's kind of obvious he's not interested in Minori in that way... with other girls it's debatable. He doesn't seem interested in a romantic relationship but at least in the LN he does spend a lot of time describing how beautiful the girls are (so far in what I've read Akatsuki's beauty is often mentioned). I haven't gotten to the Nureha/Shiroe part but since they're sort of set up as rivals I don't really see them together.
Yeah, 2 Kanami & friends episodes might have worked better. It kind of annoyed me that they were just thrown into the middle of the season and that's it (until the last few minutes of the season). Since she had so much air time in the pre-starting part of Season 2, ep. 1, you'd think she got a bigger role in the season. I don't know if it would have been better to spred her story out and have little snippets of what's going on with her as the series progressed instead of pretty much 1 year in 1 episode.
True. I think I did read somewhere that it wasn't popular enough for other networks to be interested in it. At least it got aired somewhere despite the kid-friendly edits.
Yeah, Rudy's perspective is definitely unique. I like him & Isuzu. I tend to think of them as really the only official canon couple (other than Demi-Demi and his wife). The dog thing bothers me too but I guess it's just their thing...I don't know. I hope the dog part sort of vanishes as they get closer and stuff.
With ReGan, it's not clear if he knows about that stuff or not. I thought he looked really creepy and suspicous when he first appeared in the anime. In the Gold of the Kuni part he was fine, in the last episode... I'm still unsure on whether he might have done something to the equipment he insisted he didn't break. They also like calling him old man and skeleton and stuff despite the fact Shiroe says he's not much older than them. I can't remember if he said in the LN that he thought ReGan was around 30 or in his 30's...but really not an "old man". [Looks it up] The first instance of his age was: "From his appearance, he seemed about Shiroe's age." ... "Yes, I have lived in the Ancient Palace of Eternal Ice for over 30 years, this was originally the laboratory of my master. But after he passed on a few years ago, I inherited his work and continued to research day and night, do forgive my poor dress sense."... "ReGan was not an annoying man, Shiroe thought of him as an admirable researcher, knowledgeable and witty, but as for trust... he might not be trustworthy, but Shiroe didn't think he was lying." Those were from vol. 3 but not the line I was looking for. I just checked vol. Nao calls ReGan an old man and Shiroe say "He's not an old man yet. I think he's around 30 years old?"
I honestly don't know much about Eins. I only know about the Agent One stuff from what I've read (probably on animesuki). I don't remember that ever being mentioned in the anime. They just mentioned that there was a traitor or a spy or something and I think Shiroe said he knew who it was. He seemed to call Eins out (that's the way I saw it) when in ep. 24 but I guess we'll see what happens since it wasn't clear. Maybe he was just saying it because Eins didn't seem to agree with most of the Round Table's decisions. I think a lot of those in leadership positions are probably having a hard time by that point. They'll have people are happy with the way things are, people who want to go home, people who want others stuff... though I don't see how their plan of taking from those who go out and fight and giving it to those who sit around depressed would fix anything. It's not a good plan but they need to do something, or at least reassure people that they're working on something.
If Eins isn't the traitor then I wonder who is... though Minami seems to get info easily. Somehow K.R. knows of Shiroe's coming and going so he must have someone feeding him info. I wouldn't be surprised if Tet told Kazu some stuff, though I don't think she'd actually spy, she'd probably just gossip.
One thing that surprises me is that Marie hasn't been bugging people for another festival. There hasn't really been anything since Christmas/New Year's. I'd think she'd suggest it to try and cheer people up or something (and because she seems to love festivals). Oh, which leads me to say...poor Tet, she missed all of Akiba's festivals! For some reason I think she would have loved to be in that fashion show! I'm not sure about if she would have wanted to go to the beach... I have no clue what she'd wear on the beach if she had been there then other than the bottoms would probably be shorts (and probably some sort of loose cover-up).
Nureha/Shiroe is very much one-sided. Shiroe didn't even remember talking to her prior to the Catastrophe, but she became obsessed with him because he was genuinely nice to her (re: her backstory). Ever since volume 8, though, some people have been unironically shipping Nureha/Tohya (or at least, so it seems). Even if they're only around two years apart in age ... I can't say that I'm a fan of the idea. With her rough background and implied sexual abuse, I don't think involving her with any romantic relationship would be a good turn in development. Then again, we are dealing with Mamare and fictional works.
ReGan and Kinjo are both gray areas. Nobody knows much about them; Shiroe estimates that ReGan's in his thirties, and Rayneshia was confused by Kinjo's young face but older hands. For now, Kinjo seems to be on Shiroe's side, if only because he doesn't like Westelande or the Genius presence. ReGan is up to interpretation. He might have broken it intentionally or unintentionally, but then again the structure is so old that it might just be run down and broke on its own.
The Agent One part wasn't in the anime, only the light novel -- another case of a seemingly minor detail that has larger implications. I don't think Henrietta mentioned the Odyssea Knights in the anime, either, during the Akiba Raid. The credit/debit card thing was also cut out.
While Eins is being set up as the obvious traitor in the group, it would be a nice twist for Shiroe to actually be in the wrong in this case (if he truly does suspect Eins of it, and isn't just misleading the 'real' spy). Mamare isn't usually the type to include foreshadowing and then say "but it was a trick!", though. I had a weird theory that Shiroe himself told KR that he was leaving Akiba (or had returned, in the anime). He seems to get along pretty well with KR (at least they trust each other to do their thing), and since KR seems to be in charge of spying on Akiba, it's possible that Shiroe's using him to stick a rut in Westelande's plans.
Mari tried proposing another festival in some episode, maybe 20 or 21, but was yelled at by Eins for it, since he said that festivals would only worsen things for people who wanted to return home. I could definitely see Tet trolling everyone by wearing a wetsuit to the beach, then saying something like "a true idol can't expose herself too shamelessly!"
Yeah, Nureha is pretty obessed with Shiroe. A lot of people pair them together though. I do prefer her with Tohya but I agree that with her past she probably shouldn't be in a relationship at the moment. Though it is possible, with Tohya being the nice guy he is, he could help her through the issues of her past. Anyway, it seemed to me that he had a bit of a crush on her though she was just focused on Shiroe.
Kinjo is a very odd case. He seems to be on his own side for the most part and just does what's best as he sees it (or just follows the rules unless pushed). I'm sure he wouldn't have any problem going against Shiroe and the others if he thought it was for the best.
I think with ReGan we'll just have to wait and see since it could go either way. I don't know if he sabotaged the equipment, it just looked like it was a possibility with how it was just broken in half in his hands. It could have been sparking or something and he was trying to fix it and it broke or something. The same with the stuff about his master... will he be surprised to find out he's still alive in Minami?
Yeah, there were a few Minami things cut out. Eventually I'll get through the rest of the volumes and see the Agent One parts and stuff. Oh, apparnetly they did have the part about giving EXP pots to landers. I was looking for the part where Marie proposed a festival and found that. The meeting with the festival proposal was in episode 17 (not one of the episodes I've watched multiple times though Roe2 is hilarious and Serara and her excessive mayo LOL). The injecting EXP pots into Landers is in episode 19 about 8 or 9 minutes in and Kazu tells them to stop and they don't care. So that part was in the anime.
It's probably unlikely the spy is someone else. That would be an amusing twist though. Watching that meeting in episode 17 Eins at first suggested that the guilds list all the "Teachings" (I hate that name for them since it makes no sense, Overskill makes much more sense) they have and all recipes for the things they produce so everyone would have access to the information. I think he was also sweatdropping at one point so he seemed nervous about his suggestions. I could see Minami wanting to know that information and somehow trying to force him to get it for them. If he is the spy, maybe he's being forced into it somehow.
It is possible Shiroe did tell KR or give info to him for him to share with the Minami group. KR apparently didn't tell Shiroe about Kanami though and neither did Kazuhiko. We know Shiroe and Kazuhiko have spoken since Kazu did recommend Tet. I was going to say that when Nyanta runs into Kazu he thinks about how Shiroe said Kazu was trying to change PH from the inside, though I just thought that it's possible that Shiroe could have gotten that info from Tet and not Kazu himself (though he probably got it from Kazu). In any case, the DTP group are all long-time players and probably have friends all over the server (except for maybe Indicus who seems to hate everyone, no clue how many friends she has). They probably have contacts that keep them up-to-date with what's going on elsewhere. Shiroe did have Ooshima giving him info from Minami in season 1. I would assume that he got caught since Nureha showed up in is place at the end of the season.
I haven't re-watched most of the kids' arch since they're not my favorite characters (more I've just rewatched specific scenes when wanting to look stuff up) so I totally forgot about Marie's festival proposal. I don't know how it would make things worse and taking hard-earned gold and production recipes from people wouldn't. Neither would fix the problem, both are band-aids that might help some and hurt others. I guess they really don't have a lot of options other than contacting the moon and hope to get the answer there. I have a feeling that the Intercity Transport Gates might have a roll to play in getting home since they apparently are connected to the moon and have not been working since the Catastrope (though I could be totally wrong).
And I can see Tet doing something like that... though she doesn't even wear tight clothes on her upper body so a wetsuit might be too tight. The only time she ever wears something formfitting on top (or something that wasn't shorts/pants on the bottom) was in her imagination when she was talking about Tetnessia (as Crunchyroll called them - or Tetoneshia). Tet doesn't seem to want to show off her upperbody at all (maybe to keep it unclear on whether or not she's a boy in that world too... no clue...). In anycase she'd come with some idol excuse for what she's wearing for sure.
Rudy teases Tohya about "Dariella," but Tohya brushes it off even though he probably did have a small one before noticing that she was hiding something out of pain.
Yeah, I'm curious about that "ancient treaty" that Kinjo mentioned. I don't really remember that being in the light novel (at least, not the specific phrase), but we haven't gotten much information about that at all. It's likely something to do with why the Kunie now manage the Alv's technology, and from there, why they're so secretive: nobody liked the Alvs, and most of them to this day detest and distrust the Half-Alvs. So having a Half-Alv clan running Alv technology is not going to garner a lot of positive reviews from the Lander population.
Makes sense with the EXP Pots, since I didn't watch episode 19 (or a majority of the volume 8 arc since none of it is terribly riveting to me, and my workload got stockpiled during that time so I couldn't afford the time). Eins would probably betray the Round Table because Minami has claimed to have found a way home all the way back during the Libra Festival. By the time season 2 starts, that's already around a month past, and the Round Table presumably doesn't start discussing viable ways of figuring out how to get home until even after that, maybe around volume 8, in February (four months later). Nureha might not have proof that the people she's blacklisting from the Cathedral actually are returning home, but at least they've produced results of people not returning to (their) Cathedral.
Indicus doesn't need friends, she just has pawns. Like Nureha and Kazuhiko ... although they're starting to bite back. If but a bit slowly.
I think the issue about the festivals is that if people are down in the dumps already, having people saying "hey go have fun!" feels like a giant "screw you" instead of a reassurance. Some of them might take it as a "take that, we can waste time having parties instead of trying to find a way back to our friends and family out of ET". As you said, there's really no other option than to tough it out and hope that answers come quickly. One of Shiroe's main concerns might be if someone snaps, and takes it out on the Landers. Adventurers are superhumans in this world. If their name's not Mizufa, they're probably not going to last too long. Odyssea is dangerous enough without even actively targeting Landers, but inferring that someone will go the safer route when they begin losing it isn't a smart thing to infer.
Pretty sure the Transport Gates also have a connection, because Minami had also reactivated theirs by the time of the Libra Festival, when she told Shiroe that they might have found a way home.
The way Tohya was blushing I do think he had a crush on "Dariella". I'm curious to see what the LN says when the later parts of vol. 8 get translated.
Hopefully we find out more about Kinjo and the Kunie in later volumes that explain stuff a bit more.
Maybe. Though if I was them I'd want to see more proof than just a few missing people. I'd be wonder why people like the Odyssey Knights are still around if there's a way to get back home.
Oh, that reminds me. I've never been clear on a certain point... When Shiroe uses the Kunie's gold to buy Yamato and then give it back, does that effect the Minami Cathedral? Was he able to buy that as well to keep adventurers from being blacklisted in the future or was he not able to since it was already a purchased zone?
True. Indicus is going to end up alone soon... I wonder what she has planned.
True. It might annoy people more or just make them more homesick if it's something that was celebrated at home (like people missing christmas/new years with their families). It seems that no matter what they do they can't win. I'm sure there's some people that would love a festival to lift their spirits and others who would despise it. It's the same with all the plans they presented, some would like them, some wouldn't. Someone snapping and killing Landers would be really bad though. Then how do they deal with that person? Confine them indefinitely? It wouldn't be a very good scenario in any case.
The question with Nureha telling Shiroe that they might have found a way home is, was she telling the truth or just trying to lure him to her side? Or maybe they thought they were onto something but six months later it seems that people aren't going home. I don't think there is a way home until they're able to get to the moon and fix whatever is keeping the gates from functioning.
Oh, that reminds me of something else. In episode 22 (I think I've watched that one too many times...) when Shiroe is talking about Roe 2 & Nao comments that she was on the Test Server, Tet says something along the lines of "Wasn't the test server rumoured to be on the Moon?". Recently I was reading the part in the LN where Shiroe died and was on the beach on the moon. He says something along the lines of that it wasn't common knowledge amoung Japanese players that there was a rumour that the test server was on the moon. It was a rumour from overseas forums so most won't know about it. I just found it kind of interesting that Tet, who usually acts like a goof and is rarely serious, knows something that apparently most people there wouldn't. Maybe it's because she seems to like gossip or maybe she's more knowledgeable about stuff than she lets on.
I'm also a weirdo who likes the whole Tetsugu thing (or Tetotsugu as it was written). I agree with it, at least where fighting is concerned. They make a good pair on the battlefield. Those pictures also amuse me, especially the last one of Nao. lol [I won't get into Shiroe's comment about "You two are in perfect harmony"... they do get along really well, other than the fact she annoys him with her idol act sometimes].
Tohya did, but then his attentions were focused on the fact that she was so worried that she had bitten her nails to the point that they were extremely short.
Shiroe only purchased and returned the unpurchased zones + Akiba's important structures. Therefore, all of Minami's important structures (which Nureha/PH bought out) and things like individual guild halls were left untouched.
I know that there is a jail in Elder Tale, which the Guards have access to (it's what they do with players that fight within cities). However, 1) nobody knows where the jail is, and 2) Akiba has no more guards. Theoretically, if there was a way to access said jail, problematic people could be locked up in there in solitary confinement. That's not terribly humane, though, and thus the least likely route for Shiroe to take.
Nureha's claim of being able to go home was simply "they don't respawn in our Cathedral." Which, as Shiroe notes, doesn't actually mean anything substantial. It seems to be true that Minami's blacklisted players disappear (Shiroe doesn't question its authenticity, so Ooshima likely told him, and Nureha is haunted by what she thinks are the ghosts of those players), but nobody actually knows what happens to them.
Tetora's been set up that's better than she lets on. Vuoinen in volume 7 notes that she was a capable raider despite being from a no-name guild, and without a reputation preceding her. It's probably another reason why Shiroe let her in -- there was no reason not to let her in.
Okay. I wasn't sure about that. I know there was mention that stuff that was privately owned weren't touched (like guild halls) but wasn't part of why he did to help the Round Table due to how much it cost for everything they owned and stuff. Unless his contract gave back some stuff he owned, like the guild building.
Yeah, I don't see Shiroe locking anyone up. I guess trying to prevent violence is the best but when they're not sure how they'll get home or who long it'll take who knows what could happen.
Ah, okay. I need to read that part in the LN still. I read part of Nureha's take-over in vol. 7 but I'll have to read her conversation with Shiroe in 5. All I know of that conversation is what was in the anime and I don't remember it being mentioned. I do remember reading something in a forum about Nureha being haunted by the ghosts of blacklisted players.
I know Vuoinen did say her guild was unknown and was impressed by her abilites (and those of Nao & Shiroe). Yeah, the only reason he had to say no was because he was worried about her causing problems between Marie & Nao. She's good at what she does (including annoying people). On the topic of reputation, I wonder how high her idol subclass actually is since I'm not sure that she has all the idol abilities...
And sorry if I go off on tagents, especially concerning Tet. I feel like I'm rambling too much.
Shiroe bought out the rest of the Yamato server (sans privately owned zones) and gave it back to the Kunie so that nobody could abuse purchasing power, since owning a location allows the owner to set who could enter/exit. Interestingly enough, although the Kunie seem to manage all the gold (and perhaps land) in the Yamato server, they seem primarily Eastal-based and do not look fondly on Westelande. There's apparently a Westelande counterpart to the Kunie, but I'm not terribly sure what they do, if the Kunie control all of Yamato's gold.
The part about the ghosts was in volume 7, before Indicus goes to the Ten Seat meeting in chapter 1. It wasn't in the anime because they skipped most of Nureha's monologue/inner thoughts before Indicus interrupted.
Don't worry about tangents. I can be slow at replying because a) I get distracted, b) I'm looking stuff up, c) I keep on rewriting what I'm responding, or d) all of the above. (Answer's usually D.)
I guess we need more info on Westelande in general. Most of what we know is based on Eastal and that is mostly focused on Akiba and Miahama since that's where most of the focus has been. Maybe the Kunie's counterparts just deal with city guards and stuff like that. It's interesting how the Kunie have the extra task of dealing with the gold, unless their counterparts have other Yamato-wide tasks.
I guess I missed that part. I really need to read the whole volume eventually and not just parts here and there. I tend to use "find" to look up stuff in there like Tet parts, or moon, etc. At one point I thought I read the Nureha & Kazuhiko parts but I might have missed something or had the t.v. on at the time and was distracted.
I guess I'm just worried about annoying you or boring you. I feel like an uneducated noob sometimes and I have weird/unpopular ideas (like liking Tet & Nao)...
Oh and I'll warn you that I might not be around to respond to anything tomorrow. I'm heading out in the morning to see friends and I'm not sure when I'll be back or if I'll be on before heading to bed. I might get a chance to check stuff first thing in the morning and that might be it.
I just know that the Kunie counterparts (Itsuki, if I remember correctly) are extremely wealthy as well, and that's how Nureha took control of the Lander population in Westelande. So they have considerable political power, and are likely the ones backing the Landers in the Ten-Seat Conference.
I know that feeling. I tend to forget what I read since I usually skim when I read instead of going word-by-word, and miss some important phrases.
Nah, you're not boring me at all. And if we're talking about weird and unpopular ideas, I probably have a ton of them (i.e. Silver Sword is my favorite guild alongside the Black Sword Knights, Shiroe never had a crush on Kanami, Yen Press' translation is fine).
Conveniently enough, I'll be gone for most of tomorrow as well, particularly in the evening. Sunday morning and afternoon is also usually filled in my schedule, too, so I won't be on too much.
Interesting. They probably dislike the Kunie and Eastal just like the Kunie dislike them & Westelande.
Ah. I think that's one reason why it has taken me so long to get through the LNs. I try not to skim stuff when I read. The translations are also a little hard to follow sometimes. I've also been focused on trying to write rather than read (though since I'm writing fanfic I should really read it all). I'll get through it all eventually.
Okay. I like the Silver Swords, they're interesting. I'm not so sure about the Black Sword Knights though. I didn't care much for Isaac but after the Iselus part he seems more likeable.
LOL, it seems like a lot of people ship Shiroe & Kanami. I think a lot of people were really upset to find out she had a kid, though it seemed like a lot of people insisted it was Shiroe's kid. Just because Tet shipped them just to cause trouble doesn't make it so (Isuzu also listed Kanami as a potential love interest of Shiroe's when teasing Minori in the hot springs). If anything, I think he might have thought Kanami was pretty but I think her personality would have kept him from really having a crush on her. She seems to be someone who stresses him out a bit.
I didn't mind the Yen Press translation except for a few of the names. I was also confused by the end since for some reason I was sure it was Londark's head that got cut off but I checked the fan translation and it was the same. I found they made the whole think easier to read than the fan translations. I plan to get volume 2. I'm just waiting until a little closer to the 21st to order it online.
Well I hope you have a nice weekend. I don't know my schedule for Sunday. I'll be at my parents' place for a bit but will probably be online some but not for long. I have no clue when I'll be home. I need to work on my Tet cosplay but I've been procrastinating. I'm not sure how to do some stuff and I'm afraid my legs are too fat for short shorts so they'll have to be longer but not sure how long.
I tend to skim because some parts of the translation weren't very smooth for reading in English (Japanese to Chinese to English, after all). Also, it's a bad habit of mine that I developed from a young age, so I tended to finished reading books for school front-to-cover when we were only supposed to read a certain chapter.
The BSK were more interesting (for me) for one more in-depth reason and for one shallow as hell reason. The more in-depth reason would be because of the West Wind Brigade manga, where Isaac got more characterization. He's basically a male tsundere, but he's willing to admit his faults if he's not being stubborn (i.e. with Icelus/Iselus). In WWB, he's given more of a moral compass (whereas in the anime, he's just portrayed as being completely callous about Hamelin's actions), recognizing that what Hamelin's doing with the kids isn't right and that the PKers should be stopped. He helps Souji PKK some of Magus' (the instigator the PK attacks) allies, but argues that he's doing what's best for those in his guild by giving them something to do, instead of letting them mope around.
(And the shallow reason is that I like Rezarick. No idea why to be honest, but I guess I like his VA ... who also happens to voice one of my favorite Silver Sword character designs, Ragoumaru. I think I can relate to him being the only one dealing with the administrative work.)
Shiroe/Kanami can go burn. I loathe that pairing, if only because it gives him yet another "romantic interest", even if it's one-sided (also because rabid shippers are cancerous). The anime director and/or storywriters just really seem to like pairing people. I think they realized that I hate it, so they added it in spades come second season. Yeah, there were a number of people that were like "That's definitely Shiroe's kid!" despite the fact that it would be completely out of character for Shiroe to do that. Also, Shiroe mentions forgetting the last time he saw sunlight back in the beginning of the series. He's not the most ... social person out there. I really doubt he's interested in getting laid, especially with all of his conversations with Naotsugu in volume 1/episode 1. People apparently haven't met people like Shiroe in real life. From my experience, they're usually not really interested in girls at all. Games are the sustenance that they feed upon. No game, no life, basically.
Honestly, it was basically the names and some of the speaking patterns that made people go "omg yen press is shit this is terrible." There wasn't anything particularly jarring to me, except for the Koryuu thing that we've mentioned before. The Demiqas/Londark mistake was in the Japanese version of the light novel, the Chinese version, presumably all the other versions that have been published, and it wasn't changed for the English one. It's kinda sad to see that the translating publishers aren't informed of any mistakes in the light novel, since it means that the Silver Sword members' illustrations/mini profiles won't make it into volume 7 (the editor forgot about them and they were completely excluded). Also, the end of the volumes, with Mamare's info, will take them to a dead link since he changed websites.
Good luck with your Tet cosplay! I'm unfortunately not a big fan of cosplay myself, nor have I ever tried it, so I can't help you much in this regard.
Ah, I've never been that good at skim reading unless I'm just looking over something I've already read and trying to find a certain part. In school I was very good at reading stuff then going "what did I just read?" especially when I was reading it on the bus in the morning. I'd have to read the same paragraph a few times before it sunk it. That was just sometimes though. I was very good at remember what the page looked like that had the info I needed when it came to tests. I usually did well on tests considering I never really studied much.
I've never seen the WWB manga except anything you might have shared in LHFF. It's good he got more characterization than in the LN / anime. He's more of just a side character until after Krusty vanishes. It's like "Okay, Krusty is gone, time to let other characters have the spotlight for a bit." I remember Krusty was main focus in the second half of season 1. So far in what I've read I haven't seen all that much of him, but I have just finished book 3 so maybe he has a bigger role in book 4 (along with the princess). There are several other people in the Round Table who really don't get much attention. Actually I totally forgot about Eins until episode 22 just before the "Older Member Meeting" when they mentioned his plans. I was like "Who's Eins?" and had to go look him up. I was like "Oh that guy in the Round Table group whose eyes are always closed and I totally forgot existed."
On a side note about the "Older Member Meeting", I remember a lot of people complaining that Tet shouldn't have been a part of that group for various reasons. People were calling it the "Older Members and Tetra". I'm not sure if it's because they thought she was a kid or if it's because she's the newest member so she doesn't deserve a spot there (or they just don't like her).
Back on topic... Rezarick is pretty cool. I feel sorry for the poor guy getting paperwork dumped on him (do most guild masters hate paperwork or something?) [I was picturing Marie being forced to work and suddenly had the song "Girls just wanna have fun" in my head with the lyrics "Marie's just wanna have fun".] Sorry, tangent again... At least I could figure out who he was in beach training part, there's a guy that was in Shiroe's group that I had no clue where he came from. A few days ago I was like "oh is that who is" when I was reading the LN but now I forget again. He seems to have more of the personality they describe most clerics as being (with Marie & Tet being exceptions to the rule).
LOL. I was never a fan of Shiroe x Kanami. There was no way the kid was his... Shiroe has never even had a girlfriend (I think he said that in vol. 1). I think he said he does like girls I just get the feeling he kind of feels like he's not the type girls would like and he's too preoccupied with other stuff (game & school / round table & finding a way home, etc) to really think about a relationship. I think if he was to get involved with anyone it'd be Akatsuki, and that's mostly because of the way they're usually paired up in the series & the art. Even then he seems to think that her interest in him is just her Lord/ninja roleplay. Neither one seems very good at dealing with people. I don't think he'd ever be involved with someone like Kanami because he seems to like predicability, not to mention he thinks she's crazy (even if he does admire her). In terms of a romantic relationship, at most he might have thought "she's pretty" but I doubt it would have been more than that. If he does get into a relationship with someone I think his mind would be more on just spending time with them than getting laid... the bedroom part would be a whole other hurdle for him to get over since I think he'd avoid it out of embarrassment.
I didn't think the translation was terrible. It was easier to read. I do wish that there was more interaction between the translator/company & Mamare to make sure stuff is correct and such. The links should have been updated. I was also hoping to get an official English version of the names but the Koryuu thing pretty much said that isn't going to happen. Too many names have too many versions and different people go with different versions, like you like Maryelle and Tetora and I tend to write them as Marielle and Tetra (partly because of Crunchyroll and partly because that's what Google translate changes them to...not that it's reliable... Naotsugu becomes Direct Passage, Direct Relay or ChokuTsugi). Oooh SS profiles would be cool. Have they been released or was there just a note somewhere that said they were forgotten?
Oh, I wanted to mention in the manga section but I kept going off on tangents and it didn't fit in, I've never read WWB but I did read some of Honeymoon Logs. I'm not a big fan of HL and it seems a little AU since it doesn't really fit with the LN or anime. I also didn't like how Henrietta & Marie looked exactly the same irl. They're supposed to be Japanese so they should have looked Japanese. Yeah, died blond hair is kind of common but most Japanese don't have breasts the size of their head. Marie might be busty in real life but I doubt she looks exactly like her ET character.
Thanks. I haven't cosplayed too much but it's kind of fun to be someone else for a day. I tend to alternate between feeling self-conscious and having fun getting into the role. Role-play can be fun.
Eeek, this took way too long to write... now I have 30 minutes to get dressed and packed and stuff.
I have trouble with extremely dense language and prose (i.e. William Faulkner and his five-page sentence), since the words are so condensed, and so skimming is difficult because the eye don't know where to fall, and yet regular reading is difficult because I have no idea what they're saying through all those words.
Yeah, Eins was pretty neglected in season 1, although at this point, Akaneya takes the cake for "literally who" in the Round Table. Even William's had a more important role without being in the group (or rather, it's because he left, that he and SS became important). The only notable thing about Akaneya is that a) he's really old, and b) he has more experience in Elder Tale than Shiroe (although less than Nyanta).
Most people that say that Tet doesn't belong in the older group just don't like her, in my opinion. I lump her into the older group (re: my Pre-Catastrophe Masterpost, although I abandoned logical groupings after the second picture) since it makes more sense. She might not be in the guild as long as other members, but she's still a more experienced player than the kids are. Also, given that she's from Westelande, she might have some important info that Shiroe could hear.
A guy in Shiroe's group? I can't think of anyone ... there was that guy in Kawara/Shoryuu's group, whose name I forgot, but he's from Honesty. I don't think Rezarick was even named in the first season, we just knew his name from the credits (and how the Japanese fans knew who was who, I will never know).
Ditto on Shiroe/Kanami. And his surprise in episode 25, in my opinion, was just his realization about how much time has changed her, even if her personality doesn't seem that different.
I go with Maryelle and Tetora because that's what Mamare/whoever was in charge of the English names in the light novel chose. Same reason why I use Demiqas, and Rundelhous instead of Rundel Haus. Crunchyroll isn't even consistent in its own subs and make some translation goofs (Eins/Einz, Inctis/Indicus, mistaking Half-Alv for Human, changing Libra Festival to Scale Festival), so I don't tend to favor them. Silver Sword's profiles were released on Mamare's website (parts of it are on the Wiki's Silver Sword page, if I remember correctly) with an apology that the editor forgot.
HoneyMoonLogs and WWB both take liberties from the light novel (both of them predate the anime, I believe). In terms of storyline, HML takes up more flak for being quite different from the series in both art direction (holy shit Serara, she's practically unrecognizable if I hadn't known that she was the one rescued from Susukino) and for having some distinctly AU stuff. However, as someone else argued, WWB is probably my least favorite spin-off manga now (my ratings: Nyanta's Fortune Recipes > HML > WWB). WWB was pretty solid up to the end of the PK arc. But after that, the series takes a notable turn towards fan service, most of which I'm not terribly fond of. The series started around 2012 and it just barely got around to the Summer Training Arc. Its characterization of the WWB members isn't my favorite, either. HML suffers from a bit of nonsensical writing (at the end of the manga, for some reason Maryelle considers a PH member who PKed Shoryuu as a member of her guild), but it doesn't twist the "rules" as much as WWB does to add drama to the story.
Yeah, some stuff is just hard to read. Regular reading I'm usually fine (unless I'm tired).
Yeah, Akaneya is pretty neglected through both seasons. Maybe he'll be more prominent in the last section of the story (though I can't really imagine it). William had a pretty big role after all. The SS seem more popular in Japan. I made a pixiv account just to see the art there and there's a lot of SS art (or it at least seems like there's quite a bit in the stuff I've looked through). I really wish I could read Japanese to read some of those little fan mangas.
Tet is definitely an experienced player (and probably older than the 'kids' with the possible exception of Rudy). I wonder if she has given Shiroe info about Westelande and stuff. She apparently left Westelande pretty early in the story if she made it the Akiba by the time the Round Table was created but I would think she has several contacts there (her former guild members at least) who can give her updates on what's going on. I hope the 3rd section of the story (aka vol. 11-15) gives a little more about her and such.
I had to go search the guy I meant. I couldn't find anything just on google so I check the LN to get his name. It's this guy: http://www.anime-planet.com/images/characters/kayu_59432.jpg Apparently his name is Kaayu / Kayu from Oceanic Systems. I just remember watching the whole meeting with Eastal part wondering who in the world he was since I didn't remember seeing him before.
I didn't know who Rezarick was at the time but at least now I know who he is. I still really had no clue about Kayu even though he was around Michitaka a lot in the beginning, then again before that meeting with Eastal I didn't really know Michitaka, though I knew him a bit since he was on the Round Table council. LOL
Yeah. I don't really think Kanami had changed much... didn't K.R. say she's still the same? I still think the idea of bringing a 3-year-old there is a bit crazy and reckless [though apparently some people believe Coppelia is the 3-year-old... from the comments I've read on here...weird people. Some of the things people ask...sometimes I just want to comment but I avoid it and leave it to the trusty admin to take care of it].
I haven't seen the English names in the LN. All I've seen are the translations. Though I do think you posted multiple versions of Marielle/Maryelle/Maryele on LHFF. I haven't seen any official version of Tet's name other than てとら. Though I do notice when they say her name the o in the middle isn't prominent so sometimes it sounds like tetra.
...The Scale Festival... I remember seeing that in the anime and thinking "The what festival? What are they doing? Having a festival involving monster scales from all those fish creatures they fought?" I didn't think balance scale at first and apparently didn't notice the scale on the image Marie had. The Libra festival makes much more sense but I didn't find out about the proper name for it until I was on season 2 looking up spoilers (I think...I don't remember).
Cool. I do hope they added in the SS stuff to the English vol. but it really doesn't seem likely if they're just translating as is and not even checking to see if urls are still valid.
I don't think I've seen Serara in HML yet. I think I got to where Shiroe woke Marie up with a kiss (after Nao & Shouryuu freaked out over the idea of kissing her). I'm not sure if I'll read more or not. The Nyanta manga looks interesting. I've read the stuff that's been translated but that's it. Other than that I've pretty much only seen the current (and previous) chapter as well as any parts you posted on LHFF. It would be nice if the mangas at least kept stuff consistant with the original LNs.
I think there was also talk about the drama CD where they had Tet in Akiba and leave with William and if that contradicted the main story. It makes me wonder that if she travelled with them to Susukino but they went raiding on the way, had she been on raids with them before? Is that how she got up to lvl. 92? As a cleric I don't think it would have been possible for her to level up by herself, she had to have been partied with people.
Silver Sword was popular after volume 7 for quite a while. There's one artist (Kazuya is the translated name) that was particularly fond of it, and released multiple SS comics. A handful of them were translated on the Chinese and English fandoms, even. I was going to buy one fanbook, appropriately titled Silver Sword Book (2, because I missed my chance to get the first one). I haven't gotten it yet because it's a whopping $22 without shipping/tax, and it's not a terribly large amount of pages either.
I wonder if Tet has any flying mounts. There's the Griffons, which are extremely rare; Wyverns, which only Woodstock has been seen using (apparently he's very fond of it); and the Giant Owl, which Charasin has and was not seen in the anime (to my knowledge). And yeah, if we're supposedly getting twelve LH for the twelve classes, I'd like them to all be equally fleshed out. Nyanta and Tetora are still basically mysteries.
Oh yeah, Kayu. I was completely confused as to why we saw him in episode 11 when the messenger to the Round Table came, since all he was doing was fishing.
Kanami hasn't changed much personality-wise, but she's matured enough to actually take care of her child (and makes for a rather doting parent). In all honesty, given how much she dumped responsibility on other people, I wouldn't have been surprised if she lost her kid and then forgot. Luckily for the daughter, Kanami hasn't done that. Yet. Or maybe she has, but her husband was there for her.
I've seen too many stupid comments on tumblr and the Wiki alone. By now, I've given up on being patient and immediately just say something snappy when I see such comments. (So many people've asked if ET was a real game ... I just started deleting the comments after a while, before deciding to add "fictional" in the first sentence of the page. Not that it stops people, because apparently reading is not what Wikis are for.)
This is Tet's name's spelling in volume 7's character summary page. Next to her is Demiqas' name, which is how we found out that his name's spelled with a Q instead of a K. Miraculously, William Massachusetts is spelled completely correctly. (Also, one of these days, I want to learn about how this kid chose his username.) Just because of the way I read things naturally, I don't read Tetra as being pronounced Tet-ra, I read it as Tetch-ra (like you would read "betray" or "trace"), which is part of why I prefer Tetora. It makes it more obvious that it's a hard T sound.
When I looked stuff up (on Google Translator, which even properly reads it as Libra), Libra is written the same way as 'scale', but has another character after it. Said character was written on the flyer Mari threw into their faces, so it was honestly probably just a case of the translator not knowing that the other character changed the word from 'Scale' to 'Libra'.
I've never actually checked YP's other light novel translations, so it makes me wonder if the same person is translating multiple series. If that's the case, it would make sense for them to not have the time to double-check things; and since we don't know how much communication goes on between Kadokawa and YP, we don't know how things on their side work.
Nyanta's Fortune Recipes is probably the most consistent with the LN, if only because they always focus on off-screen events, although that also leads to incredibly strange timeskips.
Yeah, Tet's scenario was really weird, especially because I'm pretty sure Mamare wrote that one himself, too. She allegedly went raiding with them over to Susukino (or followed them; perhaps she didn't actually join the group?). However, Vuorinen didn't know of her until volume 7, which ... honestly shouldn't happen. My theories:
Tet didn't go raiding with them, just followed them around
Because SS had 200+ members back then, a number of SS' current raiding group weren't part of William's 'inside group' and were more distant members. They're just the ones that persevered despite the constant deaths, and thus became William's 'inside group'. (Also to note is that Silver Sword actually still retains a number of its members, they just quit raiding. I think the anime just didn't show them because they needed to save money.)
Tet followed them for a bit, went off somewhere else, then came back to Susukino, where William was
Sorry you couldn't get the SS book. Yeah, that's kind of expensive for a little book.
I'm not sure if Tet would have a flying mount since she seemed to really want to be a flying idol. Unless that was just something she felt like saying just to bug Nao and be cutesy. She also really wanted to ride with Nao so that might have been part of it. She does seem to be an experienced raider and her vest is a phantasmal-class item. She might have some stuff she doesn't flaunt and doesn't want people to know about. She might have some sort of special mount that we just don't know about. Another thing is her magic bag. In the anime she never seems to have one. In the LN Nao notes she doesn't have one when he meets her but it doesn't say whether she has one during the raid. If she doesn't have on on her, where does she keep stuff like her "flashy wand"?
Charasin's mount wasn't seen in the anime as far as I know. I don't remember seeing any giant owls.
Yeah, Kayu seems like a very minor character. I don't even remember seeing him in season 2 (though I might have missed him).
Kanami does seem to love her daughter but I do wonder how good of a parent she is. I would think her husband has to be the responsible one in the relationship. The scary part would be if the kid is EXACTLY like Kanami... I think the husband/father would have his hands full.
Yeah, I think I've read comments asking if it's real and you said something about it being written right there that it wasn't. I tend to read first then ask questions but it seems like I'm in the minority. I've noticed a lot of people ask questions that would have been answered if they actually read the page. You've been pretty patient with most it seems. I would have run out of patience a long time ago.
Thanks for the image. I hadn't seen any of the character summaries for vol. 7 before. Actually I don't think I've seen most of them. Most the stuff I have for vol. 1-7 I got from Skythewood translations and I don't think they have everything there (or any pictures for vol. 4, which I started reading today). I think when I say her name I tend to say Tet-tra...no clue why I make it sound like there's two T's. When I read it it's more like Te-te-ra. With Tetora I started reading it as Te-tor-a, though after seeing it often I just tend to read Tetra & Tetora the same. Apparently whomever translated her profile page for vol.7 wrote her name as Tetra even though in the translations of the chapter it's written as Tetora. I have thought about writing her name with the o in it but that means going back in all my fanfics and changing it. I'm really not sure. I kept thinking that when the English volumes were released we'd get official English forms of the names, but that doesn't look like it'll happen since some names are given completely new version in Vol. 1.
Another thing that confuses me is the name of the world. It seems to keep changing. I have no clue what the official version is supposed to be.
True, maybe the translator has too many projects or maybe he doesn't think he gets paid enough to put in extra time to verify stuff. Or just doesn't have the time to do it with whatever timeline he's given to do it in.
Wow, Serara does look really different in HML. I've also wondered why Nao seems to have a bandage or something on his face all the time in HML. I think I did read somewhere that there was a big time skip in the Nyanta manga (might have been on LHFF). I do think it's good that they cover stuff not in the novels so that it doesn't really conflict so much. It also gives a little more of what they might have been doing during the time skips in the story or on their off time.
I hope there's some more explanation of stuff when we find out more about Tet. (We had better find out more about Tet & Nyanta.) My guess would have been that not everyone might have known her since it had been a big guild at first so she might have not worked with everyone. It probably would have come down to if there was any room in a party for her and if they needed another healer. Vuorinen is a healer so it's quite possible they weren't in the same party before or ever really worked together. She had to have gotten up to level 92 somehow. Unless she did that fighting giants in Susukino. If she did follow them to Susukino, then what did she do while they did raid? Unless not everyone did the raids since the group was so big and they took turns with different raids. I think Tet would have stuck with them unless they kicked her out or she got bored of them since she does seem to like having people around her. She seems like a bit of an attention whore and likes to be the centre of attention.
Yeah, I doubt that her current gear's the only raiding/combat equips she has. Shiroe's new gear was all stuff he'd already had before, he just pulled it out for the occasion and stuck with it. From what I know, players have inventory space even without a magic bag, so maybe she (for whatever reason) just stuck with the regular inventory space, or keeps anything that isn't immediately useful in the Bank so that she doesn't need one.
(I have a tendency to just drop subjects once I think there's nothing for me to add, if you haven't noticed yet. So if I don't reply to something, it's likely for that reason.)
Yeah, apparently people don't try reading things before asking questions, which makes me wonder how the heck they're watching Log Horizon when it's a words-words-words show. Maybe that's why they ask such inane questions to begin with. If I'm not patient enough to deal with a stupid comment, I tend to just delete them. It's rare for most anons to actually return to their comments, so it's not like they notice.
The character summaries are rarely eventful. The only thing you'll grab from them are English names, because I doubt any of the fan translators did anything with them, and they weren't in the first volume so YP didn't translate them. Different people translated the profile pages and the light novel, so you'll see discrepancies there. It seems as though YP likely doesn't get all the scripts at once, or perhaps the translator only gets the actual script and not the volumes themselves (so he doesn't know what's printed, only what he's editing/changing). I'm not in this business, of course, so there's no definites.
Theldesia/Celdesia/Serdesia, right? I'm pretty sure the "most official" one is Theldesia. It varies across every medium XD Even that little blurb above the LH logo, which was in that one Fun Fact of mine, changed to become more grammatically correct in the later versions. Not even Elder Tale is immune; it's Elder Tale in the Japanese text, but Hara wrote it as 'Elder Tales' in his images.
Yeah, HML's art is rather ... off-model compared to everyone else's. It still had the second-most dramatic introduction to the Round Table Conference, after the light novel's rendition, in my opinion. Yeah, NFR starts with the Libra Festival, and just keeps jumping around from there.
Given that not every raid is legion-level, which itself is limited to around 96 people (or is that the minimum?), unless the guild tackled multiple raids at once, there was probably a group that just sat around as they rotated. Either way, it was enough that around 90% of the guild quit raiding by the time they reached Susukino. Tet also mentioned stuff about Kazuhiko and meeting Shiroe, so it's possible that she wandered off for Light Indigo-related reasons before going back to Susukino. She seemed rather well-acquainted with Demiqas by the time Shiroe arrived, though, so she was definitely there for a bit.
I'm sure she has a lot more stuff. She probably kept other items she got for raids and maybe other idol-esque outfits (or better ones that she doesn't use just because it doesn't fit with her 'cute' image). I know when I play rpg games I always end up keeping other gear just because...you never know when something that has protection against fire might come in handy or the item that increases one's speed might be just the thing that's needed (though I do think I keep too much stuff). She probably keeps most of it in the bank, but wouldn't seen need provisions and stuff for the raid or did she just let everyone else provide them for her? I've wondered what she did for sleeping arrangements. Did she have her own tent or move herself into one with Nao & Shiroe? Which makes me wonder for stuff like baths, does she just stay alone or go with the girls (She is a girl but also still a boy)... or would she just avoid going to the bath? I tend to wonder about odd stuff.
People are stupid and common sense isn't too common, or so it seems.
Okay. I don't know much about translations, it probably depends on the company and stuff. One of my friends studied translation in school. She was hoping to get into doing translation for a law office but she's back taking more courses and working as a receptionist for a law office. It sounds like it's a hard thing to get into. I was able to figure out a little bit of Tet's character summary, partly because I had an idea of what it might say. The part on top of her English name says "Self-proclaimed galaxy idol" and the only other part I got was "cleric"... I used a dictionary with katakana to get the cleric but I don't know any kanji. No that's a lie, I know 1 kanji: の "no" which usually indicates possession/belonging to.
Yup, Theldesia/Celdesia/Serdesia. I guess the LN would be the authority but why would the official TRPG stuff have a different version?
I go with Elder Tales since the art in the LN has it that way and it makes more sense to me. I don't think Japanese has plurals or single 's' to add to the end so written out it would either be without the 's' or it would have 'su' (I think the u is usually the vowel put at the end when it's silent, or so I've be told). It could also be that the name is official Elder Tales but the Japanese players call it Elder Tale so it's always written that way. I don't know. I'm just trying to find a reason. I could be wrong but I would think Mamare would okay Hara's art, at least the stuff for the LN.
I know since it's in the manga and might not be 100% canon but I also go with the idea they vanished from their own world since Shiroe seemed to disappear from his room, which would mean it's possible their current bodies might be some combination of their own bodies & their characters which might be why their faces look more like their own face (or most of their faces do since I don't think that applies to werecats who look like cats, or maybe it does but it's just less obvious.) Sorry, just me with my crazy ideas.
From what I've seen the NFR manga has some nice artwork. I'm not sure if I'm going to continue reading HML or not. Maybe I should finish the LNs first.
Maybe some of the SS just couldn't handle raids when not behind a computer screen and dropped out from raiding pretty quickly. I guess they would have a lot of sitting around in anycase. As for Tet, it would be nice to find out more about Light Indigo and stuff. I've been wondering if Light Indigo might have been created after the Catastrophe by those who didn't want to join PH and are just an extention of the wolves outside PH. It's just something I thought up recently. I've also wondered in Kazuhiko had a guild before the Catastrophe. Were the Wolves a his guild from before or were they created afterwards as his private army. Also, just how well does he know Tet? I kept hoping Shiroe & company would end up going to Westelande to deal with PH and we'd find out more about those based in Westelande and stuff.
Yeah, Tet had probably been in Susukino for a bit. She also seems to really like gossip since she knew so much about Demi-Demi. I would think she'd probably have some stuff about those in Westelande too but maybe she just didn't stick around there long enough. Demiqas also seemed to know her. It seemed like he was at least acquainted with her when he got angry with her for gossiping about him.
I apologize in advance if my response is lacking. I'm on mobile at the moment.
I could see her just leeching off everyone else. With an idol excuse, likely about being pampered or something. She probably stayed with the other girls in the raid, given that there were only 4 of them, including her. They could probably squeeze if necessary. As for baths .... If I remember correctly from volume 8 chapter 1, Minori and Isuzu bathed either with each other or with the Crescents. No mention of Akatsuki or Tet. They might bathe individually, or together at a separate time.
The Japanese seem to have just as bad communication with each other as they are with foreign publishers ... The best reason I can think of is because the TRPG is developed by another group, 7-Sided Workshop, so they might not be as in-the-know about the details, such as Hara's map (which isn't printed in any volume, only on his personal images). I think the anime came up with Serdesea. Not sure what was up with that, though.
I usually go with Elder Tale, because uh ... aesthetics, I guess. I'm more used to hearing/reading that version at this point.
As for their real-life selves ... I've had some theories on my LHFF theories tag, one of them being that no time has actually passed on the outside, or if it is, it's twelve times slower just like the real world/game world time discrepancy. Mamare stated that, even if the "rules" are changing, there are some MMO-like aspects of Theldesia that will never change, no matter what. It likely won't be the case, but it's be the ultimate kicker for Odyssea -- they were all freaking out about home, but in actuality nothing in real life had changed.
HML's translation isn't even complete, so I'd say go finish the novels first. The entirety of the series only covers up to the end of the Round Table arc, anyways. I've got almost all of NFR on hand, if you want some more raws.
I think that's exactly what Light Indigo is. Information about Nakasu mentions some guilds that pretend to be loyal to PH (Tet refers to her guild members as 'Wolves') but are secretly fighting back (again, with the Wolves). I don't think much info has been given about Kazu, but the Wolves were likely created after the Catastrophe. We don't know how active he was after the DTP days.
Probably. She's very good at using being an idol as an excuse for everything (though I think most people just roll their eyes and ignore her unless they yell at her). For some reason I can picture Tet crawling into Nao & Shiroe's tent "I wanna sleep next to Naotsugu" and not wanting to take no for an answer, though she'd probably drag her own sleeping bag in with her.
I don't remember any of vol. 8 that I've read mentioning that but I might have just forgotten or missed it. I could see Tet insisting that an idol needs her privacy and space though.
I think I'm more used to seeing Elder Tales or maybe that's just how I always read it reguardless of how it's written.
I think I've seen that the post with that theory of yours. It would be an interesting development, especially for Odyssea, but I'm not sure about it, especially due to how the series ended. If they're able to travel between the two worlds I'm not sure if it would work that they essentially could prolong their lives by living in ET for a bit then going back home to where they left off. If that made any sense. My thoughts are that it's possible that it started out with there being the 12x time difference at the start but it's gradually changing to match real time just like distances are increasing between places and such. If that was the case then it's hard to say how much time had passed in the "real world" since the time difference wasn't static; less than a year for sure. Since it's a fantasy/sci-fi story, really, anything is possible. I just wonder what's going on in the 'real world' if time has passed and 3,000 people in just Japan have vanished or are comas or whatever it is that happened to them (unless they were forgotten, but then would the travelling back and forth work if you're forgotten... and people like Kanami's husband would be "You have a mother, I just can't remember for the life of me anything about her". The easiest way to deal with the 'real world' would be your theory that time hasn't passed but in some ways I think it'd be more interesting if it has and they need to go back to a world where say 6 months has went by or something and deal with the consequences of that. Though people like Tet going back and suddenly being very girly for no obvious reason would also be interesting t try and explain (though who knows, maybe Tet was always a little big girly).
I will finish reading the LNs eventually. I don't know why I haven't yet. Maybe I just feel like I should be doing something more productive than just reading all day. I do have a cosplay to work on, though I don't think any of my friends are going to the con I was thinking of going to and going alone would be boring. I tend to be shy, especially in large groups of strangers. I was a little disappointed on Saturday. The friends I went to see were ones I met in the anime club when I was in college. I haven't seen them since before I started watching LH. I was hoping to get at least one of them interested but only one had heard of it and none seemed interested and started talking about something else and ignoring me when I brought it up (kind of like Marie & Henrietta start doing when Tet was talking about wanting an idol unit with the princess). I gave up on it. They're currently more interested in Japanese dramas and movies staring male idols (the love Japanese boybands like Arashi and News). They'd talk about them instead or Game of Thrones, or how Attack on Titan was so great or that they need to watch Evangelion again since it has been ages since they've seen it and it was so good. For once I'm excited about a series and I get shut out... I should be used to it since it happens a lot that I talk and people just stop listening. Oh well.
Yeah, I remember in the LN she says "us Wolves". It kind of sucks they took stuff like that out of the anime since for some reason I feel it's important. As for Kazu, I can see him being kind of like Nyanta and being a more casual player since the DTP broke up; he'd still play but not as much as he used to. Unless maybe he's a hardcore gamer or something. I also feel that like Nyanta, he's a big older than the average players. He just looks a bit older, though maybe that's partly due to the stress of dealing with Indicus and the rest of the PH group.
Perhaps I remembered incorrectly. It's in one of the parts (probably 4 or 5) after Isuzu has her gig back in Akiba. Isuzu's talking about all the different members and mentions a bit about their daily lives.
I would think that after Shiroe connects the two worlds, time starts running parallel to each other; however, until they properly return to the real world, it'll be as if it had never happened. Even if the world is changing, it seems as though none of the other servers have gotten the expansion even after a year in Theldesia. Also, Shiroe states that nobody had entered Theldesia after the Catastrophe, but then that also causes some problems between the different media when I try figuring that out from a real-world perspective. In the manga, Shiroe finished applying the Noosphere update when he disappears. In the anime and light novel, he states that he was in the middle of partying with Tohya and Minori when he lost consciousness and was brought into this world, which means he couldn't have been updating it at the same time (since it seems as though the player needs to be offline/not playing to do that). It seems as though there was a certain "cut-off time" that trapped anyone that was playing at the moment; but it's incredibly unlikely that there wasn't someone in the process of either logging on or logging off, or applying the update. What happened to them? What about people who were loading the game at the moment of the Catastrophe? Did the game stop working at the second the Catastrophe hit? I dunno, there's just too many questions that can't be answered with "time passes as normal", especially when Mamare hasn't addressed at all what's going on in the real world.
Yeah, finding real-life LH fans can be far and few between. I met one guy who was a fan of it as well, and I actually screeched in excitement. The most out-of-character moment I've probably ever had, given how surprised my friends were at that. Somewhat disappointing, but sometimes it's better that a series isn't as well known. It makes for more interesting conversations than "who's your favorite character?" "X is the best, they kick so much ass" "yeah".
Well, it makes sense that the anime cut it out, since I don't think they managed to figure out how to add any info about the Wolves in Kazu's introduction at the Ten Seat conference. The most we got an allusion to them was in episode 24, when Kazu orders some men to start defending the city, and most people would probably just infer that they're ordinary PH members. Kazu's in his mid-thirties, I think, so he's probably closer to Nyanta's age than anyone else in the main cast. (I'd put Isaac roughly in the same area, too, maybe slightly youger.)
Okay, I'll go back and re-read that part and see if it says. Isuzu & Minori (& Serara to a lesser extent) seem to spend a lot of time together and have become best friends in this new world. Even though Akatsuki now has friends after the Maidens of Watermaple part, she still seems like a bit of a lone wolf who spends more time just watching or following around Shiroe than anything else. She did seem to hang around Nao & Tet a bit in ep. 21 (I think it was that one) probably because everyone else in the guild was away and Shiroe was busy. In the LN in vol.8 she followed Tet in, arguing with her but who knows what they were doing before that. I don't think there has been any indication on if Akatsuki even likes Tet at all though she apparently doesn't put up with the idol nonscence. They seem to have nothing in common but they were both role-players whose character was a different gender from their own, which is something... though I have a feeling Tet would annoy Akatsuki most of the time.
Sorry, rambling again.
True. I think the Catastrophe happened the moment the expansion content went live and I remember reading something that somewhere that said it was installed beforehand and just started working at midnight. Though yeah, there is a difference between version. Maybe the manga just wanted to simplify it? And I would assume since the Catastrophe happened at the point it went live in Japan (or so it seems) the other places didn't have a chance to impliment it yet. Since it's apparently another world, it's possible that the game crashed briefly at that moment then resumed working normally for anyone who wasn't actively logged in at the time. People might be able to log into the game but since they're actually not in the game but another world it's two seperate things. I could see someone being in the process of logging on and not being dragged to the other world and then the game crashes, they reload, log in and wonder why no one is online, or very few people are. I guess we'll have to wait and see. It's possible that Mamare might never explain what happened in the other world, if anything, during the time the series takes place.
Sorry for the rant. I'm just a little frustrated that they wouldn't even listen to me. That happens often. I know tons about Japanese boybands even though I don't even like boybands... I tend to listen to rock music. Certain people will talk about only what they want to talk about and I end up feeling like what I like isn't important or it's stupid and weird. I end up feeling invisible and not important and just sit there listening to them talk about whatever they're hyper about at the moment. Yeah, it's very rare that I actually get into a series that's popular, I tend to like stuff that most people have never heard of. I did get a couple of my friends online to watch the series and they liked it, but after watching it they got into other things and aren't all that interested anymore. The same with the one person who's in my local writing group who offered to beta read my stories. She watched it and liked it but sort of seemed to lose interest quickly afterwards, maybe I gave her an overdose of LH talk. Now I feel like I'm pushing people away if I bring it up so I avoid talking about it.
Yeah, they took out a lot of the Westelande/PH stuff so it wouldn't have made sense to leave it in. The most they did was show Kazu defying the leadership a bit and Nyanta saying that Shiroe said Kazu was trying to change PH from within without giving any details about what he was trying to do... about wanting to protect the landers from people who didn't care about them and such. And that's what I was thinking for Kazu's age, probably mid-thirties whereas Nyanta is more around 40. I hadn't thought about Isaac but that's possible; he might be around 30-ish.
Did she and Tet have a full-blown argument in the anime? In the light novel, it was just a one-line thing about how Tet wanted to "travel the galaxy" with the kids and then Akatsuki said that they were only traveling half the island, not the galaxy; that barely even counts as an argument. That's the only part I can remember with the two of them interacting, at least.
Yeah, your guesses are valid, too. It's just a bit frustrating to try and speculate about the outside world when Mamare's given us nothing to work with. Details about how game!ET worked are pretty vague, too, so I'm not always sure how they work. What if someone didn't buy the expansion? Does the expansion's content still go live for them, or not? Would they have been caught up in the Catastrophe as well?
Also, a random thought that has been bothering me: Serara was stated to be out partying with some low-level Adventurers right before the Catastrophe. If she was stuck in Susukino after the Catastrophe, then they must've been as well (they were stated to be hanging out there before they went to a dungeon or something). There were around twenty of them, but we only see Serara. I'd presume that they were kidnapped and sold by Brigandia, but we never got a conclusive fate for them. That would imply that said kids are likely still enslaved somewhere ...
Oh, I know how you feel. I'm normally pretty ambivalent about things, so when people are excited about something or are talking about boys, I'm just sitting there going "... Whee." And most people find my interests to be weird or childish (thanks to the stigma in the West that anime/manga/JP culture is either for kids or is X-rated adults-only with no in-between), so I don't bother talking to them about it.
I'm always humored by the fact that Isuzu, Shoryuu, Serara, Rieze, and William are basically in the same age group. A lot of people are surprised by Serara's age range of 16-17 ("serara is 17 my life is a lie" and "there's no way Serara's that old" are tags I see regarding her age on my Pre-Catastrophe posts). I think Ashlynn, Taro, and Minori/Tohya are around the same age group. Not actually too sure about Ashlynn, but I feel like she's in middle school despite her avatar looking like she'd be in elementary school. Given ET's recommended minimum age level being 15, the youngest that Nyanta would probably be is 35, since ET is 20 years old. Krusty's probably mid-20s to mid-30s, depending on what he studied. He graduated from Yale, but we don't know if that's undergrad, graduate, doctoral, etc.
Well not an argument, more just telling her to cut it out. The whole part where Tet says she wants to do a tour around the galaxy is totally different in the anime since it happens when they're eating (the whole conversation about a tour was on the roof at a meal) and not when the kids were packing. At that point she just starts singing a stupid song about being an idol touring the galaxy that everyone ignores and just continues talking.
The part in ep. 21 Tet, Nao & Akatsuki are wandering around the market. Akatsuki starts talking about what kind of food to get for lunch, burgers or riceball and that they'd have to get some some take-out for dinner too. Tet complains that she feels like they're not getting enough nutrition since Nyanta left and that if her skin gets ruined her fans all over the galaxy will go crazy and cause another Big Bang. The other two don't look impressed and Akatsuki says that if she has time to talk nonsense that she would cook something herself. Nao agrees and says that both he and Akatsuki have tried to cook, then it shows him failing at cooking while the girls stand there and watch... though Tet looked eager to try and eat his failed food (she did have a tiny sweatdrop but a big smile and her fork & knife ready... Akatsuki had a sweatdrop too and was just staring at it looking a little worried while holding her chopsticks). Tet then makes some stupid comment saying idols are only allowed to cook sweets (not that she did any sweets cooking in the Valentine's ep.). Nao is skeptical and then some guy runs into them and there's a whole part about the apathy returning to Akiba (though Tet says they're reading too much into it... and says something along the lines of Nao acts like he only cares about panties but is actually really sensitive. Nao flips out and says "She said pant..." and gets kicked by Akatsuki. The girls walk off together leaving Nao on the ground (he then thinks that he hopes he's reading too much into it because if apathy has returned to Akiba it'll be worse than it was at the beginning). ... sorry, I think I watched the Tet parts too much. Though my theory is she knows she can't cook and just don't want to fail at it so makes up a stupid excuse to avoid it. Who knows, maybe she can't cook at all in the "real world" either and doesn't know where to start and doesn't want to show that they know more than she does about cooking.
I think that's the biggest interaction between the two of them in the anime... which is more than there has been in the LN from what I've seen.
LOL there's just more questions than answers where that is concerned. There seems to be the assumption that everyone got the expansion... wait... Isuzu just had a free trial so she wouldn't have bought the expansion so wouldn't have had that update, would she? Not sure if the twins would have had it if they just started playing. My thoughts would have been, "why buy the latest expansion which seems to be mostly high level content when I'm just starting?" I would have got just the basic game (which from what I read somewhere tends to come with the previous expansions) and bought the latest one at a later date after I was familiar with the game, unless it came with the game free of charge or something.
Yeah, I've wondered about Serara's party too. I would assume they were all captured. I have no clue if they're imprisoned or not. It's possible that when Isaac and others came to collect anyone who wanted to leave, they were released and went to Akiba or some other place. Or if not at that point, then when the SS came and pretty much cleaned up the city, any captives might have been freed and are currenly living there maybe doing production stuff or joined some small guild or something. There still might be others, elsewhere, that are still captive... I have a feeling we will probably never know. Maybe some of the SS or people like Tet who seem to care about the welfare of others took it upon themselves to search out and free those who had been imprisoned/sold by Brigandia. That could have happened between when the SS left Akiba and when they went on the raid with Shiroe.
A lot of my friends tend to be anime/Japanese stuff fans... Just I tend to like more obscure things and know nothing about the popular stuff. People will talk about stuff like Naruto, Ouran Host Club, Attack on Titans or other things I've never seen (or never watched more than 1 or 2 episodes because it didn't interest me) and all I can do is smile and nod... then I feel like a freak for bringing up something no one else knows or likes... then they ignore me and go back to the stuff I don't know. Oh well. Then you have the people at work [I work in a library] who are like "eww...those manga characters are creepy looking... why is this graphic novel in the adult collection, only children read comics? Adult that read comics are freaks?" so I keep my mouth shut and keep my opinion to myself (and keep anime/manga related talk out of my FB since I have co-workers on there).
Yeah, people in ET seem to be treated as kids or adults based on level and experience rather than actual age. Serara does seem really young though, more like Minori's age or younger rather than the same age as Isuzu, even though that's not the case. People seem very...I don't know... if it actually came out that Tet was in her mid-twenties (unlikely but whatever) people would probably freak out and say it's impossible, that there's no way she's older than in high school. With Serara I was just like "wow, she seems younger than that" and that was it. I know it said she was in high school in the LN so I'm not gonna freak out and say it's impossible. Some people don't even seem to know the LNs exist.
For some reason I can see Nyanta being about 40-ish give or take a couple of years. It does seem that some people younger than 15 play too, the twins and William for starters (since he was playing when DTP was around he's only 16 he had to be younger than 15 when he started playing). I think it mentioned something about Krusty's age in vol. 3 [it's still rather fresh in my memory]. I think he's in his 20's. *looks it up* Chapter 1, part 4: "Krusty was definitely young, but Michitaka was probably less than 30 in the real world too." Yeah, we don't know what he studied or anything. I have a feeling he's in his mid to late 20's, probably around Nao's & Marie's ages.
Oh, two things I've thought about. The twins... I wouldn't be surprised if Minori & Tohya are their real names. I know it's an anime/story but if I was trapped in a world with my sister, I'd probably call her by her real name, especially if she was in trouble or something. It would make sense to slip-up and use your sibling's real name instead of character name sometimes, especially if you're new to the game (and if it's not a name they used to). Anyway, it's just a thought.
Another thing I was wondering, where does Tet's height come from on her profile page on the wiki? On her LN chapter profile thing she doesn't even seem to be 160 cm (though she's not standing straight, if she was she might be 160). I've noticed in the raid groups illustrations she seems taller, assuming that the 2nd line is 160 (judging by Nao & Shiroe's heights in relation to the lines) she might be about 165 (though with those boots of hers it would be like 160, 165 with the boots. LOL) Has her actually height been stated somewhere?
Oh, right, that part. I actually did see that one (surprise, surprise). By that point, I didn't focus that much on what they were actually saying, and was more disappointed that they were just going back to old and busted jokes that didn't even make sense. I haven't checked the web novel to see if it's in there, but I have a feeling Mamare probably didn't add it since he doesn't write Nao that way.
From what I remember, purchasing/downloading the game as a new player will automatically give you the newest expansion. It's just for old players who want the newest stuff who have to pay for the expansion, plus the monthly fee on top of all that. Since the ET one-week pass was to promote the Homesteading the Noosphere expansion, I wouldn't be surprised if they automatically downloaded the expansion when it was released. However, I'm quite surprised that Tohya and Minori's parents allowed them to play games at midnight. I would've thought that they'd be more stringent on when they're allowed to play, even if it's for Tohya's sake.
I guess that's true. We just never saw Serara mention anything about them; all we heard of them was from Maryelle, which left their fates rather ambiguous. Unless Maryelle told Isaac/someone in the Round Table, they might not have known to look for them.
Yeah, popular series rarely interest me. There's nothing usually worth talking about with those shows, and I can't really relate to the characters. I like Sketchbook (the manga) and Sketchbook: Full Color's (the anime), which is a slice-of-life about kids in an art club. It's not published in the U.S., though, so it's rather obscure (although somewhat recently, some English distributor picked up the anime to re-release it in DVD, so I might hunt that down). I worked at a library in the past, and surprisingly enough, they actually recognized that the manga was mostly for teens (since they separated kids' graphic novels and teens' graphic novels/manga). I've heard middle/high school kids make fun of manga and people who read it (i.e. me). Luckily and/or unluckily, that stigma is going away ... although that gives kids more opportunities to wreck the books. Dog ears, spilling water on the pages ... every librarian's nightmare.
People seem to forget that Tet's mostly acting everything. I highly doubt she's actually as extreme as she is here, she just decided it would be entertaining. In a sense, it's not different from Mari at the beginning of the series, who was faking her upbeat personality and yet nobody could notice.
And oh, a ton of people don't know there's a light novel. You can't even imagine how many times people have asked me "I want more LH, should I read the manga?" NO. DON'T READ IT. DON'T DO THAT. I have an FAQ in my ask page, but if people click on the "Ask LHFF a question" button at the bottom of any asks I respond to, then they can't read it. Also, because people don't actually read the FAQs, somehow. Even the Japanese fans can read it. I've straight-up deleted asks because they asked something that was already answered, if they bothered looking through my page's links. (I'm still incredulous that some people somehow are watching a show that revolves around talking/words, yet can't be bothered to attempt reading pages.)
I'm pretty sure Minori and Tohya are their real names, considering Naotsugu's real name is ... Naotsugu. Shiroe's is from his name, Kei Shirogane. Maryelle's is from Marie Sakamoto. Yeah, some of those early names were pretty obvious ones, not that most people would know, since it's an MMO and all.
It was from an image Hara sketched up before volume 7 was released (I think?), with the "beta designs" for them, which listed their heights. If not from there, then probably the Settings Book, same with her birthday.
Okay, I'm not sure which ones you've seen and which you haven't since it was part of the kids' arc, though it was the one that talked about the Geniuses. I doubt that part was in the original. I think they just wanted to add the older characters in the kids' arc. I looked quickly through the web novel and I think the first mention of the Genius are when the WWB are telling Shiroe & Akatsuki what happened so all the previous stuff was just in the anime. I do know the whole scene with Shiroe & Akatsuki walking & Minori running up to them with her new magic bag... then the fight over sweets with Tet appearing out of nowhere to join in & clings to Shiroe's back...the whole Akatsuki/Tet half idol conversation & all three pulling at Shiroe... It seems like most of ep 22 (except maybe the Tetsugu with the pictures) was from the web novel... but the older group parts in ep. 21 were not.
Marielle and Shiroe might have brought it up to those who went to Susukino to evacuate people and they took care of it. We might never know.
I've never heard of Sketchbook, though honestly I don't know a whole lot of series. Most of the graphic novels at the library where I work are either in the kids' section or the teen section, depending on their rating. A few, are in adult due to graphic content or whatever, usually they're not manga but western graphic novels. One of my co-workers despises anything graphic novel or manga and puts it all down. It's just a little frustrating and I found it rude of her to insult people who like that stuff.
If Tet acted like that IRL I don't think it would go over well, especially since she was a boy there. Climbing on guy's backs and saying she's a beautiful idol...yeah, as if she did that outside ET. I think a lot of people don't even realise that she's a roleplayer. I mentioned it to someone once and she was like "Really? I never thought of that." Speaking of Marie, I find Tet & Marie seem to be alike in a lot of ways. They both seem to be the type of person who tries to smile and keep people's moral up no matter what's going on.
Yeah...people are stupid and people don't read. I have noticed that people seem to be getting too lazy to read or write (properly) in the past few years. It's frustrating. I still think you're more patient at dealing with stupid questions than I'd be.
Yeah, it seems a lot of them use their own names or variations of. Akatsuki is one of the few we know of that doesn't have a name even similar to her own. I have no clue about Isuzu... it could go either way with her. LOL, I'm pretty sure Nyanta's real name is nothing like his ET name.
Roe2 made some allusions to the Genius in volume 8 but never stated anything directly. And, of course, they're in volume 9, but Akiba's first mention of them is in 10.
Sketchbook is one of those series I randomly stumbled upon while browsing scanlations, then I fell in love with it.
Even if she didn't do the whole idol gimmick outside of ET, she could still be outgoing and flamboyant. I've met a number of guys who are simply excitable and like making jokes (sometimes at other peoples' expense). Yeah, some people thought that she was really like that, but I thought the whole "she's a boy in real life" reveal was a really big cue that she's not really like that. But oh, wait, right. Everyone was too busy either raging over it or making jokes about it. *Rolls eyes*
Yeah, it's probably no coincidence that they're Nao's main "love interests" (if Tet really counts).
People really don't put any effort into researching, whether it be for school or for fandoms (unless it's sports). Sometimes, when people ask me how I knew something, I just say "I actually use my eyes". Honestly, most questions could be answered by looking it up, like we do.
The beta designs were something different, and Tet's height wasn't revealed on there (it was a ?, but everyone else had heights listed). And I know the person who added the height, but I have honestly no idea where he got it from.
Yeah, I mainly meant the Genius of Marriage part that happened in ep. 21 and him hitting on Souji and stuff. I think that the only stuff with him were in what was told to Shiroe & Akatsuki, which was in ep. 22. I think they just added in the Akiba bits into ep. 21 to add some comedy and a bit to show what was happening while the kids where dealing with the wyverns and stuff.
Okay. I stumbled upon LH quite be accident just looking what was on Crunchyroll after I finished watching SAO. I thought it looked like it might be a fantasy so I checked it out.
She could be. I wouldn't be surprised if she was excitable and flamboyant... I don't think she'd do anything at someone's expense though (other than a little bit of embarrassment). I have a feeling that her "awfully specific comment" about a love letter to a teacher on a test was something she (or he since she was a boy at the time) did. I wouldn't be surprised if Tet was a bit of a class clown in school. I think I had a feeling that she was overdoing the role right from her introduction and the way she acted in that whole scene, it was just a little over-the-top. The reveal just sort of was proof that she wasn't really the person she pretended to be... though I really don't know why it was as explosive as people made it.
I would include Tet as Nao's love interest... at least until she stops flirting with him or he makes things official with Marie (which they still don't seem to have done.)
Yes, effort is something people don't like to use. It reminds me of a story one of my cousins told once, that a friend of hers was a T.A. in university and students actually had the nerve to go up to him and say "I'm playing to take this course so you're not allowed to fail me, you have to give me an A." I think she said the kid plegiarized a paper or something, I can't remember exactly. I just remember the person thought they were entitled to an A and didn't have to work just because they were paying to take university courses. People don't want to work for anything, they just want everything to be handed to them.
I try to look stuff up and just ask if I can't find what I'm looking for after I've looked or if I find conflicting info.
ROFL. Definitely! Nyanta and the Catfood guild caused the Catastorphe! The poor guy seems to get a bit neglected...maybe Shiroe should ask him what CATS know.
Oh, I think I have that image saved too...somewhere... I have too many things. She doesn't seem to be as tall as 167 though. She's a little over 160 in that picture but not by that much. Even if she was standing straight I don't think she'd be more than 165. I don't know why they just didn't give her a height. (I really put too much thought into this... *hangs head in shame* )
As some people on 4chan mentioned, Tet's personality in-game was likely just the result of "Hey, I got trapped in the world of Elder Tale ... but I have a cute girl's body! May as well make the most of it!" and thus the current Tet was born. People see things that aren't really there, and just infer that it means what they think it means without regards for cultural differences.
Plagiarism? The kid's lucky he wasn't straight-up kicked out of the school, for crying out loud! Out of all the things you just didn't do throughout my years of school was plagiarize. Most schools, regardless of country, take plagiarism extremely seriously, and at best you'd fail the paper. I mean, it's honestly not that hard to slap on quotation marks and cite the source. Nowadays even moreso, with bibliography generators.
Cat Food didn't actually disband. They're now masquerading as the secret organization CATS, intent on siphoning all the world's Empathiom using their artificial intelligence, the Travelers.
Yeah, I lose stuff all the time in my 7 GB of Log Horizon pictures. I can't tell if Hara just didn't solidify a height for her, or if it's because she's an "idol" and they need their privacy. Either way, she's definitely not 167 cm tall.
True. She probably did the cute idol thing in game before the Catastrophe and just decided to have fun with it. Without any background info it's really impossible to know who Tet real is. Sorry if I read too much into stuff.
I don't remember exactly or know what happened in the end. It might have been a warning or something at the time... not sure... but they might have got kicked out in the end, I don't know. There are bibliography generators? I've never heard of that, but I've been out of school for a few years.
lol. CATS is behind it all! Maybe all of them other than Nyanta have moved to the Moon and left Nyanta to keep an eye on things back in Yamato.
Wow... I only have like 1 GB of stuff and I'm sure some of them are duplicates. I started to sort the large folder where most of it is but so far not much luck. I do have a gif folder in there and one of fanart (though I need to still move some fanart out of the main folder). Who knows why. Maybe if she ever gets a 2nd chapter profile it'll give more info like her height or something.
Oh, you're not reading too much into things. I'm talking about people who take it to ridiculous levels and say things like "I'M DROPPING LOG HORIZON IT'S MAKING FUN OF TRANS CHARACTERS".
EasyBib is the one that I use the most, but there are a couple of them that have been out for a handful of years. They're such a time saver.
Roe2 is actually working for CATS. She was simply programmed to think she was on Shiroe's side ... for now. Meeting Minori and co. was not a coincidence, the higher-ups at CATS realized that this would be a good way to get one of their agents closer to Log Horizon, their greatest enemy. Nyanta was trailing the kids to keep an eye on Roe2, who he knew was their agent, even if she herself was unaware of the fact at the moment. That's why he also knew that Choushi would be safe despite the kids' relatively low levels. It's all coming together now.
Most of the folder size is the result of hoarding raws for the light novel and manga, plus saving up screencaps from the anime, fan art, and random pictures that I think will come in handy later (if I ever find them). I really should clean out some stuff ... but I always think that I'll need the pictures for later.
Oh yeah, that type of thing. Some people are a little over the top. Who knows, maybe Tet is trans. *shrugs* Not likely, but possible. She at least doesn't take herself too seriously and has no problem flirting (and climbing on) guys, even though she was one herself. I doubt she's homophobic.
Ah cool. I have no clue if they existed when I was in school but they would have been useful. Making those bibs took quite some time. One of the most annoying parts was that different classes required different citation styles so I'd have to make sure I followed the right one.
lol. Hmm...maybe he worried about Roe2's loyalty and was keeping tabs on her. Or maybe he feared that the kids might catch on the the plan so was watching them. The only one he doesn't worry about is Serara since obviously she would never suspect him of being with an evil organization and actually being her enemy.
Wow. I don't have a lot of manga images. I have random ones from different mangas, mostly the stuff you've posted on LHFF. Most of the LN stuff I have I took from Skythewood or LHFF. Pretty much if you didn't post it, I probably don't have it. LOL. Due to a slight Tet obsession I think I do have quite a large collection of Tet screencaps and such.
I did read more of the LN vol. 4 today and was enjoying Marie hugging Nao while wearing her bikini. She was saying he was so cute when he freaks out... They didn't have that part in the anime, I've re-watched that part recently.
The entire Shibuya Raid was just a test for the Adventurers, to judge how much of a threat they would pose to CATS' plans.
Yeah, I have stuff from the first season's BD extras (hype died for Season 2 so nobody scanned the BD stuff from there, disappointingly), which makes for some pretty huge files. The first season's settings book was also enormous, and I have that on hand.
Most of Maryelle's more risque moments got cut out, and they also didn't show her bikini (although they did show it on some extra material for purchasing all the S1 BDs. Likely because the only people capable of buying them are adults anyways).
Also, Hara's sketches for volume 3. I honestly don't know where the Chinese and Japanese fans got these from, but they seem legit.
Hmm... I wonder what the verdict is. Are the Adventurers a big threat? Nyanta's biggest contribution (at least in the anime) was saving Serara (twice I think). Maybe he has a soft stop for the kid... will that effect his mission? What will CATS do next!?
Lucky! I want the two settings books but they're expensive. :(
A lot of Marie x Nao moments seemed to get cut. I did notice that Tet's line in ep. 21 which was about Nao seeming like he only thinks about panties but is really delicate... is very similar to thoughts Marie had in vol. 4 of the LN "He was usually so brash and bold, so it was hard to imagine that he was actually delicate and kind at heart." Instead of Marie thinking he's delicate, Tet says it several months later....they pretty much gave Marie's line to Tet.
I have seen the bathing suit pic that was in the LN and I think that showed Marie's bikini.
lol Akatsuki and Shiroe look very unhappy... Serara and maybe Minori look nervous and the reast look happy. I wonder if Atatsuki would have perferred to be on the beach...with Henrietta dressing her in cute swimsuits.
As the CATS absorb more empathium, they come more human-like ... and that's how Nyanta is able to communicate with people without his real-world medium. It's also why he took care of Serara, even though they should be enemies ... the plot thickens.
(I-I pirated the first setting book ... someone scanned the entire thing and put it on the web ... and that's also how I got all of my raws.)
Yeah, Maryelle and Tet are really alike in almost everything but looks and way of speech (with Maryelle having Osaka-ben). RIP Maryelle's bikini and Isuzu's ... sheer top thing, they got cut from the anime.
Akatsuki would probably have preferred to be anywhere were she wasn't mistaken for a little kid, and anywhere Henrietta is. Of course, the latter isn't possible, ever, since Henrietta.
So much stupidity in the comments. I think I'm going to try turning them off for a spin.
Ooohhh... so if they absorb too much empathium (I thought it was empathions since that's what crunchyroll had...but it does end in a -mu not an -n...) will they become human? Do the CATS have some sort of of intersteller communication device that they're not telling the Adventurers about? Are they laughing at the Adventures using the ancient, broken technology?
I have no clue where to look for stuff like that.
True. I've seen people say that they should have known Tet was a boy since no girl would act like that, though Marie's behaviour isn't that far off from Tet's. I know people from Osaka have a different accent (my cousin has been in Osaka for years teaching English and recently got married there)... but I can't tell the difference between Tokyo Japanese and Osaka Japanese, it all sounds the same to me.
Yeah. Poor Akatsuki. ET was her escape from being mistaken for a kid. I think Shiroe pretty much said Henrietta only came along because Akatsuki was there so she would have followed her anywhere. I wonder if Shiroe would have wore a swimsuit on the beach... I can't imagine him in one since he's the indoors type.
Sorry for the stupidity. I was tempted to respond to the bard comment... maybe I should have. People need to learn how to read. I wonder what people will think if they can't comment. I'm tempted to change Tet's height to something like ~160 & ~165 with the boots. I just feel like I shouldn't change what someone put when I don't know where they got it.
As stated on AnimeSuki (paraphrasing): "Both empathium and empathion aren't accurate translations, I [aohige] simply chose to use empathium. The most accurate pronunciation would be empathioms."
Well, they'll become human-like, but probably not completely human. I mean, if CATS can make everyone's base belong to them, then they probably have a lot of technology that the Adventurers don't. They were able to create AI that took over bodies of monsters on Mare Tranq, so they're obviously capable of some high-level stuff. That's why Nyanta's a mystery. He's hiding his secrets from us. Taking some ... leaps in logic, Krusty's cat in the real world must be part of CATS, too. Misa's scythe acted up when he did because Krusty's continued presence in Akiba would hinder CATS' plans too much. Also, his cat wanted revenge for his terrible name: Nobody. And that's why his memory of his cat's name was one of the first ones he lost.
I think it was Tet's constant mentions of being a 'girl'. Not even Maryelle did that, because well, most girls don't go around saying "I'm a cute girl", they'd just say that they're cute (and, if they're anything like most girls in the west, they'd always say they're ugly).
I'm pretty sure Hara drew something with Shiroe in a swimming trunk, or whatever those're called. I'm not much of a beach/sand/swimming person. Might've been in the same extra booklet where the LH members (sans Tet because this was around the time of the Summer Training arc, and Nyanta because nya~) were picking out beach outfits. I couldn't find an image with him in a full-bodied swimsuit (oh, I'm sure I have the image saved somewhere), but at least he's somewhat shirtless and thus logically in a swimsuit in that link.
I think you're free to change it. She's very obviously not 167 cm when you look at volume 7.
Okay. I like that aohige explained his/her reasoning. I guess we'll see what Yen Press does with they get that far.
I can't stop laughing. LOL.
Hmm... so true! That explains whey we didn't get any backstory about Nyanta! Does that mean Krusty's cat is on the moon? Maybe Nobody is the mastermind behind CATS! Or maybe the cat is like Krusty and just got bored so did this all out of boredom. So Nobody's revenge was dumping Krusty off with Kanami? Actually I think he'd like it there, it wouldn't be boring. He's just stuck carrying around a wiggling arm.
ooh nice! Thanks. :) Now if someone does that for the second one.
True, though I think it was "bishoujo" more specifically which I don't know if calling yourself that is quite the same as "cute girl" even though that's what it means. In any case, even if she wasn't a boy in the 'real world', it's been said that most of the characters were designed to be good-looking, so no matter what Tet looks like in reality he obviously designed his character to look like what he conciders to be a cute girl. If I got stuck in any of my game characters (or in my gaiaonline avatars) I'd probably be "oh I look so cute!" since don't think I do in reality and I probably wouldn't mind it, no matter the gender of the avatar/character (I have both).
Yeah, Tet was probably in Susukino or on the road to there at that point... and of course not in any of the material. Awww...but Nyanta might look cute in swim trunks but ewww wet fur! I still can't picture Shiroe being comfortable on a beach (though he wasn't comfortable dealing with the nobles either and left most of it to Krusty and Michitaka).
And sorry if I end up with spelling errors I don't notice in these messages. For some reason in Firefox it doesn't underline spelling errors (and when I've written at work using IE, since that's all I'm allowed to use at work, it shows spelling errors but doesn't put a space after I hit enter like it does in FF).
LOL. Of course there was an edit war over Tet's gender. I don't know what to edit. I tend to avoid editing stuff unless I find obvious mistakes since I usually feel like I don't have the right to do it, that other people probably know more than I do.
It's odd that it shows differently in different browsers.
Oooh... I didn't even notice that button! Now I feel stupid. That'll be useful! Thanks.
If the other people visiting this place ask questions like "What do Bards do?" and "I think Coppelia is actually Kanami's daughter," then I'm pretty sure you know a lot more than they do, and at the least have common sense, which is always something that's appreciated on a Wiki.
I added it in yesterday, I think, so it wasn't there the whole time. I saw it on another Wiki and thought "Well that sure would be useful for long conversations." And so I did. And I often forget about it and start scrolling up before realizing that oh hey, I added this convenient button for this very moment.
The episode pages are always lacking, because I've always left that to other people. I'm pretty sure I completely neglected to create pages for the last couple of episodes.
Something I noticed while checking the Chinese LH Wiki: Dolce's regarded in one extra story as someone whose gender is a "gray area," and thus he didn't sleep in either the male or female rooms (leaving Souji as the only guy sleeping in the room). However, everywhere else, he's listed as being male. Good thing the western fandom doesn't know this, or else he'd probably be Tet 2.0.
It seems like 21-25 don't have pages. I've watched season 2 a lot more than season 1 and I know you haven't watched all the kids' episodes. I can see about filling in some stuff, though probably not until Friday. I haven't really done any wiki editing so I don't know how to add links and stuff so hopefully I can figure it out. I'll probably watch the episodes and write the summaries so weekends are better for that.
LOL. My thought was always that Dolce was male but probably gay (since he obviously seems to love Souji too). I don't know about vol. 6, since I haven't read it, but in the anime Dolce was part of the Akiba raid and attended the slumber party at the end. Maybe since he's male he wasn't allowed in the girls' room but because he's gay they didn't want him sharing a room with Souji... or didn't want to him to have an unfair advantage over the other members in getting to alone with Souji.
Oh, when I was looking up Empathions/Empathioms in the web novel (using google translate since it's the easiest way) I couldn't help laughing. When the guys are telling the girls who Roe2 is and say her nickname is Ero-ko because of her big breasts, Tet says "Big I do! Mumu. Idol speaking it is guilt" (bad translation but the idea is there). I want to pat her on the head and say "whatever you say..." I think Marie is guilty of that, and Nureha, and Kanami, and Nazuna... I don't think Tet is even close to being big (even though she wears loose shirts, those shirts wouldn't be loose if she was big...though it is possible she might be the biggest in the guild since none of them are very well-endowed). It's surprising a boy didn't make a character with big breasts. Poor Akatsuki is like "is that so, my lord". She's probably thinking Shiroe like big breasts so she can't measure up, either that or that he's a closest pervert after all.
Whatever you can't figure out in terms of managing the Wiki editor, I can fill in.
In volume 6, most of the members weren't mentioned outside of Nazuna, Akatsuki, Maryelle, Mikakage, Rieze, and Kyouko, if I remember right. Henrietta and Raysi are "leaders", and Tatara gave Akatsuki the sword but didn't fight. And given the members of WWB, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the latter (being alone with Souji); after all, he was allowed into the male baths, with Souji, in the WWB manga, so he's obviously male. And then the girls "joined" by crawling through the air vents, or whatever that was. Aaaand got a nice view ... of Dolce, with Souji behind them. Yeah.
Maybe real life!Tet was into flats? I've seen some weird discussions/comments on even my own stuff on LHFF ("flat is justice", regarding the fact that most of the female Werecats seen aren't well-endowed). Akatsuki probably thinks both; I know some people were saying that Nureha's the "most likely candidate" because she's Shiroe's only buxom romantic interest (disregarding Kanami, who wasn't one of the three people Mamare claimed was Shiroe's "main heroines").
Okay. I'll get to reading it eventually. lol Crawled through the vents? Well persistant girls. Those girls really are crazy.
Quite possibly, or Tet thought a cute little idol shouldn't be too busty, or thought she'd be a more believable girl if the breast weren't unrealistic. Who knows what Tet was thinking. I just find it funny she insists she's big when she's obviously not. I can just see Nao shaking his head and thinking "What the hell? You're not big, Marie is."... then getting all blushy as he remembers the boobs in his face.
I really can't picture Nureha with Shiroe; at least not with what we've seen between them so far (unless something changes in the 3rd part of the series). I still think if anyone has a chance with him, it's Akatsuki but he's clueless.
I realised my typo after I posted it... it should be closet pervert not closest.
Yeah, "crazy" is an understatement here. That entire chapter was something else.
Well, given that these are anime/game proportions ... Tet could be big, if taken from a realistic perspective. But this is a game, so crazy sizes are possible. Also, Maryelle's the clear winner.
Shiroe doesn't seem interested in Nureha, and he can't fully trust her due to her status in Plant Hwyaden. I'm more interested in what they can do if they combine their minds, though. It's foreshadowed to happen, or at least they'll get to the same place in the end (in the Interlude of volume 5).
Man, the TRPG is such a gold mine for information. It's too bad that the original translators stopped without completing the Race information.
I think Shiroe did say that whole guild was crazy. lol
True. She's also larger than she was in real life (unless she had man-boobs) so maybe to her anything is big. lol. Japanese girls aren't usually very well-endowed so who knows, Tet might be average to large in that case... but yeah with fantasy sizes it's no contest. Nao did say Marie was the clear winner in terms of volume. I swear he needs a map to find his way out when she shoves his head in between them.
Yeah, if I was him I wouldn't trust her either. People seem to like to pair up the most unlikely couples (then again I like Tet & Nao... though I think they have more chance of happening than Shiroe & Nureha or Shiroe & Minori or Shiroe & Misa...). I kept waiting for PH vs. Round Table in season 2 but it never really happened (other than a few conflicts). I think Nureha defying Indicus at the end might lead her to work with Shiroe soon (I hope). I'll be interesting to see where that goes.
I noticed that you've been updating stuff. I always go to the wiki activity page to see what's new. They have some nice character illustrations for the classes in TRPG it seems. I wonder if the whole thing will ever be translated. It'd be interesting to try and play the game. It's good that at least the TRPG seems to get periodic updates even if other stuff isn't updated as frequently.
"I swear he needs a map to find his way out when she shoves his head in between them." Beautiful XD
Um, Tet/Nao is definitely more canonical than Shiroe/Misa, at the least. Honestly, I don't know the logic behind some of the pairings. But is it okay that I somehow, somewhat ship Misa/Rezarick. I honestly think it was pixiv fanart that made me like the idea.
Honestly, the only thing I care about with Indicus is that Nureha freezes her in one final(?) act of rebellion before Kanami punches her straight in the face. And then PH, the Round Table, and Kanami combine forces and CATS instantly loses because ... yeah. (I'm probably going to call the Genius/Travelers CATS from now on.)
As a person who doesn't play TRPGs, the entire thing is honestly really confusing. I'm just in it for the background lore/information they give. They give it in spades, but since I'm not a Japanese speaker, translating everything's a lot slower. I hope to tackle Dariella's column in the Celdesia Gazette someday, since that has a lot of interesting info about locations.
For some reason Misa/Rezarick seems more likely than Shiroe/Misa. Shiroe doesn't need another girl after him, especially one he's hardly spoken to. Misa/Krusty maybe... though I'm not sure if she's interested in him or more babysits him and runs the guild for him (I'll need to read more of the LN). Rezarick could use a love interest and I don't know how many females are in Black Sword Knights (though I'm sure yaoi fangirls probably pair him with Isaac, when Isaac isn't paired with Shiroe or Krusty or William). Hmm... I just went to check the BSK's member list and they're not on the Guild drop down menu (though maybe that's because only two members are important). Charasin needs a girl too, though Minori might be a little young for him...
I hate Indicus. She's the cause of a lot of problems. Oooh, I want to see Kanami punch her! LOL. They should be called CATS since they are trying to take all the bases because they think they belong to them.
From what I've read it does sound confusing. I downloaded some of the stuff that was on the other wiki and read through parts of it. At least they're releasing a lot of info. Maybe someone fluent in Japanese will translate more of it. *is hopeful*.
Misa has no romantic interest in Krusty, thankfully. That position goes to Rieze although the shipper inside of me now wants her to get with Yuta, that boy from episode 7, now that I know their shared history, hence her crying over his disappearance. Isaac, surprisingly-ish, gets paired up more with Krusty, Shiroe, and Souji. Aaaand there's one person that involves him with Serara, although I can't tell if it's romantic (since that person's comics make it seem as though Isaac and Nyanta are fighting over her) or platonic, and he's just being tsun-tsun with her. LOL Charasin. Birthday's on Valentine's Day and he still can't get a girl. Isaac gets to jokingly call him a lolicon thanks to Minori, too (and I'm pretty sure that was in front of her, even).
"All your empathiumempathion empathiom are belong to us!" If you don't mind, I'll probably post the crack!CATS theory on LHFF, simply because it's so obviously a joke and yet logically, it fits pretty well.
Okay. It didn't seem Misa was interested in Krusty but I wasn't 100% sure. I know Rieze was...by how she took his disappearance and when she found out he was with Kanami and okay. Oooh, with Yuta would be interesting. Too bad we don't see more of him. Yeah, Krusty gets all the yaoi pairings it seems. Serara & Nyanta seem really, really popular in the Japanese fandom even though that pairing bothers me due to their age difference (and Nyanta seems a little oblivious to her feelings, at least in the anime, even though everyone else realizes it). I think I do remember seeing something with someone and Nyanta fighting over Serara... I also think I remember seeing a little comic where Tet was trying to get Serara or something and Nyanta stopped her... I can't remember exactly. And Charasin seems like a nice enough guy. I remember him getting teased by Isaac. Lol, maybe he can have Tet and she can leave Nao & Marie alone... though he seems more interested in Minori (or at least he wants to steal her for his guild).
LOL. Go ahead. It's amusing. I wonder how many people would think the joke is for real...
I can't tell if the majority of Japanese fans think of the Nyanta/Serara pairing as platonic, or romantic. I know that there are a couple who take it waaaay too far. LH has a surprisingly large amount of yaoi fans, and that was not good for my eyes. I need to turn off R-18 on pixiv again, it can get bad sometimes.
I'm not sure since I can't read it but there is a lot of Nyanta/Serara fan manga. I haven't seen anything graphic...maybe I have restrictions on Pixiv and don't even realize it. I'll have to check that out tonight. I've seen yaoi but nothing more than hugging with nothing showing or kissing...definitely nothing that seems restricted.
LOL very amusing. I see you had to make a post saying it was a parody as well since people were unsure. I had a feeling some people might take is seriously. I'll like it when I get home from work since I don't log into Tumblr at work.
By default, R-18 is hidden. Some artists always restrict their images, even if they aren't all R-18, so some good ones can escape my eye. I'll probably go back to hiding R-18 stuff, though. Also, some of the LH yaoi is in a separate tag, and the artists don't put it into the main LH tag.
Yeah, I'm not sure how people thought it was serious. I guess sarcasm really isn't very visible in writing.
Hmm... I have no clue if I should change the setting just to see what stuff I might have missed or if it might be a little too much.
Because people are stupid/gullible? I mean someone thought Coppelia was Kanami's daughter...
Some people don't even catch my sarcasm when I'm actually talking to them in person. Sarcasm doesn't always come out well online though so I try to avoid it... sometimes.
Apparently Mamare wrote the name as "Landers" in volume 7. I just like using that term more, it's less clunky to read and write, and makes for an easier reading experience than writing out "People of the Land".
And I changed my settings in Pivix... I didn't put the gore one on though. I just checked Tetra pics since it's a smaller number than Log Horizon... why do they make her male in most of them... oh well... also, why is hentai art usually nicer than the majority of non-hentai? lol.
I suppose. Fans can get pretty weird once it comes to ships.
Man, I can't believe I've forgotten where I was going with my fic ... and somehow, some people are still finding it and following it on FF.net. I built up something with Coppelia and Rayneshia, but by now I can't remember what was written on the note Coppelia gave to Rayneshia ...
Good luck. I hope you figure it out. I've had that happen to me before after not touching a story for awhile. Right now I'm not liking the story I'm working on. I was going to have Marie have a festival but after you pointed out that she's not allowed to I'm kind of stuck at what to do next. I have a whining Marie clinging to Nao and wanting a festival.
Tet's literal :3 face at the end, though. Oh, and that artist is the one who does the Isaac/Serara stuff, too, I believe.
Well, it wasn't that she wasn't allowed to, Eins just yelled at her for it and then she was sulking because of it. There were also those other festivals she mentioned at the end of the Libra Festival in S1, which we didn't see (but I think it still happened).
Maybe something for White Day (March 14)? Since it's apparently a big thing in Japan, I could imagine Elder Tale having some sort of special event during that time that Mari could use to her advantage.
Um, only what happens in the future (I wrote down a bit of stuff) regarding Kinjo and Rayneshia ... but I can't remember if the note was regarding Kinjo, or the Adventurers.
True. I think he did say he liked talking to Tet during the raid, he enjoyed their nonsense conversations. He'd just have to put up with her riding him... though half the time he doesn't seem to mind it.
No clue. They might have done something for that.
My current story takes place after season 2... so they're currently in May. She was just going to have some sort of music festival after hearing a band play and when the kids found out they were excited about it. There was also mention of an idol competition (but they have to but units of at least 3 from the same guild) so Tet was trying to get her guild-mates to join her before finding out Marie was told she couldn't have the festival because it might upset people.
Can you just make up something new since you can't remember?
Maybe Tet/Mari decides to have a mini, private festival within one of the guild halls? She invites everyone on her Friends List in Akiba (it's probably huge), and then holds a mini-festival there. Since it's a separate zone, nobody outside would theoretically be able to hear it, so it won't bother anybody.
I probably can, but I found the discussion I had with another person about where I was going, at least, with Kinjo and Rayneshia. However, there's some parts missing, which is quite annoying.
LOL but Marie probably has everyone in Akiba on her friends list. I'll see. Maybe she can make some event outside Akiba so only those interested can go but I don't know how safe the zones outside the city are or if there's a potentional for enemies in every zone.
Ah, well at least you have something to go on. Is it enough to know what the note was supposed to say?
Possibly, but it might end up being too big for a Lander village. Hmm...maybe she could talk to Rayneshia and try to see if it could be held in Maihama. Maihama seems to like adventurer stuff. I can't remember what Marie called the princess in the anime. She called her something in ep. 23 and it took me awhile to realise she meant Rayneshia. *looks it up* It says "Sia" but she says "Shia-chan"
That's annoying. I have a couple of stories that will never continue because I have no clue where I as going with them. I hope you can figure out something for that note. Good luck. I'm sorry I can't help.
Well, if it's a mini-festival, it could just be LH/Crescent Moon/Ray's tea party members and some other friends, not a huge thing. It'd be more manageable to write, too, and lets you flesh out more of the people in the party (if you're interested in that stuff).
Just skipped that part for now and went straight to the 'interesting' part of the chapter. I'll figure something out.
Kinjo is trying to dissuade the Tea Party from traveling to Tsukuba, where they're supposed to learn the truth behind the Mass Disappearance and the Pioneers (it really doesn't make sense without context, sorry).
I looked briefly at your story when you first linked it so I have a bit of an idea. I didn't get far in it. I'm trying to do Camp Nanowrimo and aiming to write 1k words a day this month so I've been a little more focused on trying to get writing down and less on reading. Of course I have too many other things (tv, fb, tumble, etc) that still keep me from writing as much as I could.
I'm just a little frustrated with my story right now. I liked the little milkshake short I did (that's supposed to fit in somewhere eventually, I just don't know where) and the truth & dare game wasn't bad. The stuff I've written since I'm not liking as much. I did a Tet's past, which lead to Tet at the start of the Catatrophe, there's little Nao stories that connect to Tet's, then there's the current one, the one that starts the day after Truth & Dare, though it draws a lot on the stuff I wrote in Tet's past & Nao's connecting story... and I feel like it draws too much from that and not enough from the actual series. I'm not sure what to do other than try to finish it anyway, or scrap it all and start over.
I attempted to Nanowrimo with LGAO, but quickly gave up XD Good luck to you!
I don't think drawing from your own stuff is particularly bad. I mean, I'm the type of writer that really prefers sticking to canon, but at this point, I'm probably going to have to diverge from volume 10 in order for some (read: a lot) of the future events to make sense. The fact that LGAO basically rests on a "bad end" premise cements it further.
I've done NaNoWriMo since about 2008... failed the first 2 times and the worked on the same fantasy (guys get sucked into a fantasy world and need to save it before they can go home) since 2010. I've "won" NaNo every year I worked on that story (which is probably more like one long story that would be divided into several 'books' if I ever finish it). I don't usually do fanfic because I have issues keeping people in character... but I was on such a LH hype and needed a break from the other story so I'm doing fanfic.
This month is Camp NaNo which you choose your own goal. I know perfectly well I can write 50k+ words in a month but I just put 30k as my goal because I don't want to stress myself out too much. I just want an incentive to keep me writing and those little charts help since I don't like "failing" and not reaching the goal.
One thing that I think is tripping me up is that I'm writing quite a bit from Tet's perspective and in canon we really don't know how she thinks. We know how she ACTs... with emphasis on acting, but we don't know what goes on in her head most of the time. She's an enigma. On the parts from Nao's perspective I've tried to keep him in character but I didn't know how to put in the "festival" and have it make sense so I left it out. If I ever finish stuff I might try to add that in some how.
Well yours is AU, isn't it? So leaving cannon is allowed, isn't it? "Bad end"?
I tried NaNo once before with an original story, but quickly burned out. I'm not good at working on stuff routinely, I usually get inspiration in spurts, which isn't always a good thing.
Hmm ... yeah, that would be tricky. Even with Shiroe, I sometimes have trouble writing things for him. Rayneshia gets completely OOC moments, which is why I have the convenient plot excuse that she's now an Ancient and has lived for 500 years after what is known as the 'Mass Disappearance', when all of the Pioneers (the Adventurers trapped because of the Catastrophe) disappeared.
I'm the kind of person that always wants to follow strictly what canon material says.
And the "bad end" results in the Mass Disappearance I mentioned above; Shiroe makes a miscalculation in his plans, which allows the Genius to make a final strike against the Adventurers, forcing Shiroe to only create a shaky connection to the real world. Adventurers had to choose between one of the worlds, and weren't able to travel between them. To even create the connection, Shiroe was forced to sacrifice Krusty (although Krusty did it willingly) and the entire city of Nakasu. Those that chose to remain were able to settle into a somewhat-normal life in Theldesia afterwards, but then five years later, they suddenly all vanished, leaving behind the Landers and their children, if they had any (pregnancy became possible). The Genius weren't completely dealt with, but they showed no signs of activity after the Mass Disappearance, after they and the Adventurers had one final(?) showdown.
Ah, yeah I have months that I don't write anything... and then it's hard to remember where I left off. I've been trying to be good this year (though I didn't write anything in...was it March?) Someone harshly critiqued something I wrote without a single positive aspect and didn't really offer much in how to fix the stuff he saw a problem with so I got discouraged and couldn't write for over a month (though I ended up watching LH in Feb/Mar instead of writing so I guess it wasn't so bad).
I find it hard to get into the heads of someone else's characters and keep them completely consistant with what's been done before. Yay for Rayneshia having an excuse. My only excuse is that we no next to nothing about Tet... and I have no excuse for Nao. I have been doing all the writing in 1st person, which is something I haven't done in a long time either.
Oh, I want to follow canon, I dislike leaving canon but it seems to happen anyway. I ended up having Nao run into both Tet and Marie at different times irl before the Catastrophe which affected his perception of Tet a bit (he hasn't realised he met Marie before yet since he hasn't thought back to that day yet). I think that's why I'm so frustrated, it's getting too AU.
Ah, poor Shiroe... and you didn't like Krusty anyway. lol Interesting idea though. So are the Genius gone or just hidden?
Gah. Critiquing is hard. It's either always positive, without much real feedback, or just negative without providing ways of solving the problem. (Then again, FF.net isn't the best place to actually critique works, although I have seen some people do it.)
I can't write in first person for my life. I find it difficult to follow stories that are written in first person, too.
Does he know he met real-life Tet, or is that a secret, too? Just like "Hey, I've met a person that acts a bit like this," or "Wait, you're that person?!"
The Genius are basically in hiding. It's because the Pioneers are reincarnating that Kinjo is becoming more worried about the Genius, because some strange things are happening to the world again, and Kinjo's afraid that if the Genius view the Pioneers as a threat again, they might wreak havoc like before.
I know I suck at critiquing. I usually try to find the good stuff in what I read. I had saying negative stuff. This was on a writing thread on the site Gaiaonline. The person pretty much ordered me to post what I had written for a challenge even though I warned them I hadn't even proofread it yet. Someone else told me off for posting something that wasn't proofread. *sigh* I don't go to that thread anymore. The last time I popped in there to say hi everyone ignored me and I didn't need anything else bringing me down so I just haven't went back. I've never posted anything on FF.net.
Eeep...remind me not to let you read anything I write then if it'll be hard to follow and goes out of character. I usually write in 3rd person limited but for some reason I just felt like writing Tet in 1st person; it seemed to make more sense at the time.
He just realised that he had met Tet before... Tet had been cross-dressed (long story there) and he hadn't realised she was a he and thought she was cute so now he's like "I thought a guy was cute? What's wrong with me?" He had too many parallels between Tet and Aki (which was the name I gave Tet) that he pretty much was like "That was you, wasn't it?" and totally confused her since she had no clue what he was talking about. It's complicated... I think my whole story is too complicated. He had met Tet a couple of times so had more to go on than when he ran into Marie & Henrietta (though Henrietta did call her Marie)...he also had a girlfriend when he ran into them, though he thought they were both pretty (his girlfriend wasn't too happy about that). I'm not liking that girlfriend part though so I want to change it, but I want to actually finish something and not spend all my time going back and changing little things.
Ah, interesting. Did that note have something to do with that?
Gaia Online seems like a terrible site to me (sorry if you like it, just my opinion). I just could never understand the formatting and style of the website. I've gone on it a couple of times, though. FF.net is mostly just "I love your story" and "Please continue". It's rare to get more constructive criticism, unless it's from a friend/person that is a writer themselves and reads your works constantly. That's why I had someone proofread/go through it before I posted it, since it was easier to get critique that way.
I can always check for canonity, of course. I read a fic about Akatsuki in real life, and even though that strayed from canon a little bit (although it was retroactive; Akatsuki's canon real name was revealed much later), I liked how it was written. It was in third-person, though, if I remember correctly. I honestly can't recollect the last first-person story I read.
Is Aki Tet's real-life name? Isn't that a feminine name? And, well, Marie is a Japanese name (not sure how common, but it's a genuine name), so it could have been any Marie. I don't know much about Naotsugu's romantic life, but I had inferred that he's never had a girlfriend. At least if he did, it probably wasn't when he was working/in the past two years pre-Catastrophe.
Well, I've handwaved the note for now, to be explained in chapter 11. I've given Kinjo some minor mind manipulation abilities, which is what Coppelia was informing Rayneshia about -- Kinjo was subtly lessening her suspicions of him, allowing him to absorb some of her mana, which he used to trap the Tea Party in chapter 10.
Meh, I haven't been on it as much as I used to be. I joined the site back in 2003 and have some friends on there still so I don't really want to quit. I've invested time and energy into the site in the past so feel like I should stick around, even if it's mostly lurking and sticking to friends' threads. I do know how Nyanta must feel though, I've jokingly called myself ancient and chased people with my invisible cane since I'm older than the majority of people there.
Well I don't usually write in 1st person so this is something different for me and I'm not sure if it works or not.
Yes and no... Technically I named Tet Akihiro (I listed a few random names to people who had no clue what I was talking about and one person said they liked that name so I went with it), so it's Akihiro, Aki for short. For Nao's love life, this was taking place not long after he got a job and it didn't last long... he quit ET sometime after dumping the girl [I think I had him at 22 or so]. I have no clue if he's dated...wait... I seem to remember he said he hadn't in awhile or something like that. I'll have to look that up when I get home since a 15 min break just isn't enough time. Anyway, does that make a little more sense or is does it still sound bad?
I hope you remember what the note says by ch. 11. Oooh... Kinjo is a bad boy! Now what's Rayneshia going to do about that? Is Coppelia a gold farming bot in that world too?
Ah, that feeling when all of your old friends start leaving the site ... I've felt that on Wikis where their shows ended their runs, and everyone developed other interests and went away ...
Well, it's always worth a try, right? Sometimes it's good to try something different.
Ah, I figured it was short for something. Your explanation was perfect, it makes sense. Also, you're right about Naotsugu dating. From volume 7:
"And Naotsugu would think about Maryele when he was with Tetora.
Her smile reminded him of Maryele.
The frequency was high, even when Tetora was not around.
He was not after the wonderful soft pressure. But even so, it was really troubling.
Life back on earth was much simpler. Naotsugu landed a job and his life was getting stable. He hadn't had a girlfriend for a while, so it wouldn't affect his future dating life. Although there were great aspects in the life of Adventurers, it seemed more unstable when he thought about things like that. Running amok. The feelings of Maryele were also important. On the flip side, it was not good to drag it too long, Naotsugu thought as he scratched his face."
Yeah, this is a post-canon series (although it diverges at volume 10), so their backstories remain the same. Rayneshia, naturally, intervenes and hopefully this will be a fight scene I'm more invested in. Although it'll probably be more words-words-words because Rayneshia and her side is basically dumping the plot and backstory.
Yeah, a lot of old friends have left but I have other ones there so pretty much all I do is chat to them and change my avatars (I had one of them cosplaying as Tet at one point).
Maybe. I used to switch POV depending on stories then later just stuck to one so changing it a little odd still.
He really doesn't like thinking of Marie so much. lol. My thoughts on that was that he cares for Marie but finds Tet attractive (though kind of annoying)... which is why even in my fic he's kind of between the two. I found Tet & Nao together too amusing to just ignore it. And I thought it said somewhere he had girlfriends in the past. Thanks for finding the passage. I'm pretty sure that's the point where Tet starts bugging him to trying to find out what he's thinking about and then he accidentally talked her into joining LH. lol.
Ah, well it's hard to use canon as a backstory when it's not complete yet and being added to while you write. There's a fight scene or Rayneshia talking?
Does he? I thought his line "On the flip side, it was not good to drag it too long," was referring to him not solidifying his relationship with Maryelle. And yeah, that's the point in the story. He yells out something again right after the last line I quoted. He seems to have that tendency whenever Tet's around.
Yeah, I tend to wait until a series is complete to start writing fan fiction, but LH is too good not to write fan fics for it, even if it's not complete yet. There's going to be a fight scene with lots of talking, just like in my animu.
Does he what? And months later it seems like nothing is solidified with Marie since they are hardly seen together. Apparently he is dragging it out long. I've read that section over and over again and there's a lot of stuff that I'm not exactly sure what he means... and yeah he likes to yell out when he's thinking of Marie when Tet is around.
Ah. Animu? And if you wait until this is finished it'll probably be several more years. lol. I have no clue how to write fight scenes, most of my scenes are talking.
I think my biggest problem is I feel like everything I'm writing is 'wrong' because I'm making it up.
"He really doesn't like thinking of Marie so much" was what I was asking about. Naotsugu really needs more development. I dunno, I feel as though he and Nyanta really haven't gotten much development over the past 10 volumes. It might be why people dislike the kids, too; they get a lot of focus, whereas others like Nao, Mari, and the other adults don't get to shine as much (at least in the anime, because it's for kids). I know that there's some people who find the prominence of adults to be one of the refreshing parts of this series.
Animu is a somewhat derogatory/self-mocking term for anime, often to pick at parts of anime that really don't make sense, like people arguing for entire episodes while fighting each other.
Oh, I get the same feeling with LGAO. Like, is everyone in the Tea Party in character, even if we've never met them and never will? I obsess over those kinds of things a lot.
I meant it more that that it kind of seems to stress him out and worry him.... not really that he doesn't like thinking of her since he apparently does it often.
They do need more development. I hope they get more but since the kids have been built up over the series I have a feeling they'll have an important roll to play at the end. Nyanta just seems absent most of the time, at least in the anime. I felt bad for the poor guy since he never seemed to be a part of anything and just seemed to cook and babysit. At least Marie & Nao got a little more in the LN than in the anime but still. He obviously cared about her when she fell down a hole, but they hardly seemed to talk to each other since the Valentine's episode (though he did carry Serara home when the kids got back... maybe they talked/hung out then). In the anime they didn't even sit next to each other at the big meal when the kids left. They stood next to each other crying and that was about it. I somehow doubt their relationship gets much more focus in the LN since vol. 8 is mostly the kids, 9 is Kanami & co. and from what I've seen in 10... they're in the same raid group...that's about all I can see.
Okay. I've never heard of it before. Thanks for the explanation.
I doubt we'll ever find out more about the other DTP members, unfortunately. :( Who knows, we might never even find out anything about Tet or Nyanta and they'll remain mysteries. I know my characters are out of character. I have Tet being too serious with only moments of idolness. It annoys that they aren't in character but I really don't know how to fix it without just deleting everything and starting over.
The anime is so strange when it comes to pairings ... it's like they want to make every pairing controversial/debatable unless it's Isuzu/Rudy. Too many Aka/Shiro/Min/+Kanami scenes, gah! And Mamare even got rid of best bet Henrietta to boot. I'm a pretty staunch Nao/Mari shipper, as you can see XD I don't mind Tet/Nao, but I still view it as a "she's just toying with him," even if she's becoming more like a girl.
As for WWB ... I'm pretty sure the author/artist just looks for every possible opportunity to add female fanservice. Such a pity, especially with how strong it started.
Well, are we mostly focusing on her inner thoughts, or what she says to others? If it's her inner thoughts, then it's largely fine; we don't know how she really thinks, and the story indicates that she's much more serious than her usual persona lets on.
Yeah, the Shiroe pairings/competition is annoying. Well it's partially good Henrietta took herself out of the mix or it would be a 3 or 4 way mix. She's definitely a better match for him than Minori or Kanami. At least Kanami was taken out of the mix by the final episode, now if Minori can find a boy closer to her age to crush on.
I like Nao/Marie... but I like Tet/Nao too... which just makes it all messed up. I honestly don't think Tet has a chance with him even if she wanted him by the way things have been set up (aka she was a boy irl - I get the feeling that kills any chance she might have). She does toy with him but since we don't really know what she's thinking, she might actual like him a bit or have a bit of a crush on him (I do think she's trying too hard with her "he's entranced by my love" type stuff when he hardly even reacts to it anymore.) She likes his company in any case. He doesn't seem to mind her riding him (or gave up trying to get her off) after the raid. Vol. 7 made it clear Nao & Marie like each other, but that was back in December and then by like April/May it seems like they haven't really moved forward at all. Maybe he decided not to? Maybe they are a couple and it's not being shown? The end of the anime they didn't seem any closer than they had been at the beginning of the season.
Oh joy. That's kind of annoying. There doesn't seem to be much of a plot besides Girls trying to get Souji and Kurinon trying to get the girls... or at least from what I've heard.
Tet in my story is a bit of both. She let Nao see her more serious side...a bit with Akatsuki since she was upset and Akatsuki just happened to be the one to find her crying. I just wrote a part where she was totally out-of-character talking to Marie and Nao and Marie was like WTF? "Is she okay? She's not acting like herself." Tet was upset and told Nao to be happy with Marie that he deserved a real woman and she wasn't good enough, or something to that affect. I totally don't know where I'm going with the story since I like both pairings but a 3 way relationship would probably be disasterous, maybe... Tet was a boy, maybe she would go after Marie...
Honestly Minori shouldn't have been a contender to begin with ... Henrietta would've been much more interesting, because she's arguably the most mature out of all of Shiroe's possible love interests (including *blech* Kanami).
I haven't checked volume 10's stuff beyond skimming Google Translator for the last 4 or so chapters, so I don't know what's been mentioned. It's completely possible that Mamare forgot, or decided to put it off for another volume. I still think that Tet/Nao is more platonic than anything because platonic relationships FTW, but each to their own.
There used to be a lot of plot, and now there's a lot of "plot". The parts that are tied into the main plot are parts that I'll miss easily, because it'd be based on words rather than fanservice.
Tet as love counselor 2015. For some reason, I could see her as peoples' confidante, despite seeming like she'd spill the beans. An interesting way to show the boy/girl sides of her is by having her serve as a genuine advice-giver when it comes to relationships. As a boy in real life, she knows what guys like, and what they think girls like or should be like. And in ET, as a girl and gaining some more "feminine" mindsets, she can understand things from a girl's perspective as well. And as Nao and Mari's "love adviser", she flirts with both of them. Because Tet.
Yes, that whole Minori thing annoyed me from the start. It needs to end. Soon. Henrietta would have been. LOL I think EVERYONE is more mature than Kanami. She might have matured a bit being a mom but she's still reckless & crazy. Didn't K.R. say she hasn't changed? (I'm pretty sure he did in the anime, not sure about the LN). I think Tet & the Valentine episode was a big push was a big Shiroe/Kanami push (though I'm sure people were shipping them before that due to his "what would kanami do?" several times in the series).
Most likely Tet/Nao are platonic, though I'm pretty sure he at least finds her attractive (though he doesn't like her arrogance) based on what he has said... then again he finds most girls attractive. I'm not sure if he keeps comparing her to Marie because she's a little like Marie & apparently her smile is like Marie's, or if he's just so obsessed with Marie (or a little of both). It's Tet's flirting that I'm not sure of. She doesn't really flirt like with anyone else. She did cling to Shiroe's back but that was because she wanted cake (though I'm wondering what she was up to that she was close enough to hear the other girls arguing over sweets but they didn't see her until she tackled Shiroe... and I'm not going with the anime's version of hiding in his clothes). She teases ReGan a bit but he's better at getting to her and making her stop than Nao is... she doesn't stop with him.
One thing I do wonder is, is she doing the whole competing for Nao with Marie thing to try and push them together. "Well if he's single then I'm allowed" sort of thing. Though it seems that most of the time he's not trying that hard to stop her. In the anime when Marie ask who Tet was, he was just like "umm...". I wouldn't be surprised if he kind of likes the idea of two girls fighting over him, even if it flusters him. Or maybe it's just a good excuse not to get too serious with Marie since he seemed unsure with getting involved with someone in that world.
Oh lovely. So WWB started off good and just became fanservice. The section you posted on LHFF didn't look overly interesting.
Well Tet was upset because she likes Nao but felt bad for coming betwen Nao & Marie, especially after some stuff happened and Marie took it to mean they were a couple and was hurt when Nao said they weren't (then again she was being a little clingy and it was annoying him... and Tet was avoiding him). She wasn't giving the two advice as much as saying "I won't be the other woman who breaks you up so have a nice life together." Now, she is trying to set up Shiroe & Akatuski and giving them advice, though so far Shiroe is clueless despite everything. I need to re-read the LN cake part (I did read that part once and know he said he never had a girlfriend or something in that part... I think). He seem to believe them that they want to pretty much thank him/protect him more than actually date him. He doesn't seem to think girls are interested in him at all and he's more concerned about the world/politics/finding a way home than dating. In my story Tet & Aka are hanging out together a bit and going shopping and such (if I remember right, Tet convinced Aka that she should own some dresses to look cute for Shiroe & Aka decides a ninja must be prepared for any situation so maybe having a couple would be a good thing). Nao is a little freaked out when they both show up in dresses since neither one usually wears dresses.
Yeah, I can see Tet flirting with Marie, especially after clinging to her in ep.24. I'm still surprised that Nao was yelling at Tet to get off Marie, you would have thought he'd enjoy too girls hugging/clinging like that (Marie's arms were around Tet too so she hugged back). I have screencaps from that ep since it amused me.
Not so much "what would Kanami do," but more like "what would Kanami tell ME to do," IMO.
And yeah, Naotsugu doesn't do much to stop Tet. After all, in the passage I quoted above, he seemed to be hesitant to form a romantic relationship in-game, especially when he doesn't seem to know anything about real-life Maryelle or Tet's lives (where they live, where they work, what their families are like, etc.) If it's too difficult to get back together if and when they return to the real world, it'll be hard to commit now, right?
Hmm, I see. It's hard for me to come up with a suggestion since I haven't read the story so I don't know how it flows/reads. Shiroe's almost completely clueless when girls display interest in him, unless they make it exceedingly obvious (i.e. Nureha); ironically, though, he seems to be able to notice everybody else's romantic escapades (namely Souji's and Nao's, and probably Rudy/Isuzu's).
Maybe Tet can convince Akatsuki (and the others) to get the outfits seen here? I don't know if this story is/is connected to the festival one, but it could be a good tie-in, especially if Tet wanted a LH band in the festival.
LOL maybe. She seems to be bossy. "I want to do that, make it happen!" Maybe it's more her never give up, anything is possible attitude that he kind of envies since he usually is at a point when he's not sure what to do next when he starts thinking of her. So it might be "what would she tell me to do and how would I accomplish it?"
Maybe that's why nothing has progressed with Marie, he's just too hesitant. She seems like the type who'd tell him all about herself if he asked. Tet is more likely to make up something stupid about being an idol than to tell the truth. She likes to be the center of attention but she really doesn't let anyone get too close to her it seems. Her idol role play could be a sort of shield to protect her so she can give out "because I'm an idol" answers instead of actually answering questions. Who knows, she could really dislike her rl self or even be like William or Shiroe, kind of a loner who's closer to people in the game (though if that's the case it's probably not to their extreme since Tet does seem a lot more social). I wouldn't be surprised if she likes being the center of attention because she doesn't think she gets enough attention irl where the emphasis is to fit in and not stand out.
Bad me... I start talking about Nao & Marie and go on a monologue about Tet. Anyway, I wonder if in the 3rd part of the story if Nao & Marie might get more serious or if they'll stay as is. Since Shiroe said LH accepted Kanami's quest I wonder how much of a role CMA will have in the next arc or if it'll be more of a focus on the LH members only (and we still need the missing 3, though I wouldn't be surprised if Serara was one of them despite refusing to change guilds previously).
It's fine. All the fics I've been writing are supposed to be inter-connected. I'm not sure where to fit in the milkshake one though. It happens after the true & dare since Nao knows Tet was a boy in it (she told him in the true & dare one, she figured she had better say something before someone else did). Yeah, there are a few people who seem oblivious regarding people liking them but they know everyone else's love lives. Nyanta doesn't seem to realised that Serara is in love with him but everyone else seems to know. I could give you the google docs link to my milkshake story but it's 1st person, Tet is written as Tetra & it's a Nao/Tet pairing.
lol maybe. The kids wanted their band to play. I'm not sure of the musical skills of the older set though. Apparently Tet isn't a good singer but other than that it's unknown. Actually, based on how she sings in the anime, it doesn't even sound like Tet is really trying. She sings in her whiny idol voice and makes stuff up as she goes alone. She might be a little better if she sang is what seems to be her mor natural voice (aka her serious one) and tried singing a real song. Who knows, maybe she doesn't think she's that good so she doesn't really try. You can't really fail at something if you don't try. I do like those outfits though. I think that's the only picture (and the CD cover with the same outfits) where Tet isn't wearing shorts. She seems to like to wear what seems to be a mix of feminine & masculine outfits. Oh, and I swear Tet stole Akatsuki's hat in that pic (or gave it to Akatsuki for the band pic) since they seem to have the same hat and only one or the other wears it. I do love Akatsuki's outfit in that though. I still want to know what Tet is up to on that CD cover that is making Minori & Nao freak out. Akatsuki & Shiroe look a little concerned too, but Minori doesn't usually looked panicked like that. Maybe they're afraid she's going to start singing.
Yeah, her idol personality definitely seems to serve as a mask. Whether it's to hide her real-life gender (the LN gave no indication that anyone aside from Shiroe has figured it out, at least by volume 8), or to keep people from asking questions, Tet seems to use her boisterous, energetic personality as a means to sort-of separate her avatar self from what is probably her real self. In that way, she's a bit like Nureha -- having a (somewhat) idealized body and adopting a persona that is different from their real life one, yet fearing that others will find out about their real-life selves.
Yeah, Serara's prominence really pushes the idea that she'll join LH. Roe2's introduction has also been pushing the idea that she'll become their Summoner. Most fans are up in the air over whether it'll be Kanami or DemiDemi to join as the Monk. I'd rather it be DemiDemi or someone new, because I feel like Kanami's probably happier in her little group now. She wouldn't be tied to a particular group, and can do as she pleases.
You can give me the link if you want. I doubt I'll mind Tet/Nao and the first-person perspective. Tetra/Tetora doesn't bother me as much as things like "Apocalypse" or "Novasphere Pioneers" (especially the last one, since it kills the reference).
From what I heard, being in a party with a Bard (maybe anybody with a music-related subclass, too) grants them minor musical ability, even if they aren't a Bard or if they don't have a musical subclass. I didn't watch that episode, so I can't judge for myself. I just know that Isuzu's VA sang in-character, so she purposely sang somewhat badly because Isuzu herself isn't good at it -- the VA had actual musical training, though, IIRC.
I thought they were somewhat panicked because Tet was taking up almost the entire back of it. Photobombing, ho!
I'm sure it's partly to hide her real life gender but it might be more than that. Paraphrasing Akatsuki "games are fun because you can do things you can't in real life." All I do know is she probably doesn't do the idol routine in real life. She probably uses it for lots of things: hiding her gender, a cover for things she can't do "Idols are only allowed to cook sweets", as an answer to questions she doesn't want to answer "because I'm an idol!". Yeah, that's the way I kind of see it, her being like Nureha in that way (though most likely without Nureha's tragic past).
When I started writing I was kind of using the anime as my basis and most people knew she was a boy (though I like the other version better). I didn't know enough about the LN to know who, other than Kazuhiko and Shiroe, knew about it. I really don't get how the others figured it out in the anime. Maybe Tohya figured it out and told the other 'kids'. There's a few things in that episode I really didn't like and that was one of them.
Serara and Roe2 would make sense. My only issue with Roe2 is that she's not an adventurer. Can Fools join guilds? I wonder if any of the kids wanted to add her to their friend list. They might not have tried with Dariella since they thought she was a Lander. I think Kanami should stay in her little group. I kind of like Demi-Demi working with the SS but I think he's more likely to join than Kanami. It's also possible that we haven't met at least one of the future members yet, though at this point they'd be joining the story quite late.
I don't know how to share without an email address. I had one person make some comments on that story and most the changes I did in the Word file and not in that file.
If I remember right from what Isuzu said at the beginning of vol. 8, being a bard or any musical class (I would assume idol as well) doesn't give you musical abilities but doesn't limit you. If someone is a mucians in real life but doesn't have a musical class, I think it limits their ability to play. If you have a musical class, it takes off the limits. It doesn't make you able to sing but if you have a good voice in the other world you will be able to sing in this one too. I think bards are able to unlock the ability in those around them too (if you have no natural ability, like Rudy, then you can't play instruments or sing). It must have been frustrating for people to not be able to do stuff they once could do in the other world, just because they don't have the skill in ET (like cooking). Though if now people who couldn't cook in ET before can (as seen by Serara, I think she can cook a bit without the apron in the last arc), it seems that the limits based on skills are a little more relaxed about 1 year in.
lol maybe. That might have been it. She is an attention whore... I mean idol... afterall.
Oh, I started working on the episodes, starting with 9: the changing battlefield, since that's where they seem to start lacking (though the William episode is probably fine so I'll skip that one). I needed to stop and write out the list of names for each party based on Shiroe's view since they don't match up with the official order (like Shiroe is at the top of the list, not #6). I can't read Japanese so figuring out who's who in advance makes it easier to see who's dead and stuff. The only party I new was Party 2, except for the SS members on it. I knew it was Shiroe, Nao, Tet and then Demi-Demi was at the end. Anyway it paused too long and crunchroll froze so I'll continue again later. I'm not sure how detailed to get but since Ep. 9 had sections marked already I figured I had to fill them.
Honestly speaking, I think the anime just made the others know about it so that they could add in that "sisbro scene," because fillers FTW.
Roe2 technically is an Adventurer, at least in body. The thing using her body isn't an Adventurer, but in a certain sense, the people trapped in ET aren't Adventurers, either (since they're not from the world of ET, they had avatars in that world, and the Landers believed that they were mostly mindless tools).
If you don't feel like making an account, you can post it on http://pastebin.com/ as a Guest and give me a link to it. You just won't be able to edit it afterwards.
Another one of those anime-only things, maybe (since that's where I heard it from; I was wondering how the other kids could play without it sounding terrible and someone said that Bards could let people play well). That explanation sounds reasonable.
I'm not sure what you mean by list of names, but if you need help, I am an expert in Silver Sword.
-_- I responded to this then accidently hit the [ ] and it messed up and I couldn't undo it and then somehow it went off his page and I lost everything I wrote with links and stuff. I'll start over, it'll just take a bit. *sigh*
I have a feeling this version will be a bit shorter.
That scene was useless. Tet always says to call her Tetra/Tetora-chan when she introduces herself (at least in the anime), though very few people actually call her than (I think Marie did once and maybe one other person, Shiroe maybe, but only once). I don't know why they put in a filler episode and left out so much original material. They could have had 2 Kanami eps instead (not that I really like her but her section was a little too condensed).
True on all accounts. I wonder if she'd make the older group call her big/little sister too if she joins. The question would be, which team would she join, Shiroe's or Minori's? The older group could use a distance attacker/offensive magic user but that would fill the roster for them. The kids could use a close-range attacker but putting either Demi-Demi or Kanami on their team doesn't seem right.
Too many tabs open...I hope I don't accidently mess things up again...
The bard thing is in the Vol. 8 translation in part 2:
Being a bard didn’t increase your singing or musical ability, but adventurers who didn’t have bard as their class, or a similar sub-class had limits placed on their musical abilities.
If they had the Diva sub-class or similar, then, depending on their practice, they could sing well, the limitations wouldn’t drag at their feet. Bards however, could remove the limitations from people around them, so when Isuzu was on the stage, Tohya, Minori and Serara could use backing instruments and keep a rhythm. Unfortunately, the dog prince himself had no musical talent so was mainly there for support.
This is the screen I paused to try and figure out who died: http://oi60.tinypic.com/29hqnd.jpg The order of the groups there doesn't match the order on these pages: Which I think was the basis for the list on this page: Abyssal Shaft Raid Party. Since the image (other than the party numbers) was all in Japanese I had to try and match the names. I have the list now so I'm good. Wait...I'm missing the second person in party 4 but that should be easy to fix since they're the only left by default (I must have skipped it since the name is all kanji). I think the difference is the party leaders are in the first slot on the screencap whereas they're not on the lists of party members.
Kanami's not my favorite either, but having two episodes would have made more sense. It's possible that, since volume 9 wasn't out when the episodes were produced, they didn't want to add too much Leonardo time (since he's technically the main focus of volume 9) out of fear of copyright infringement.
Roe2 would be in a group of her own XD "Immense firepower, covers all bases."
Be warned, I'm a bit of a grammar nitpicker, so a lot of my suggestions will likely turn into grammar/alternate wording issues. That, or tone to make it sound more like somebody's thoughts, since sometimes it can become too mechanical/third-person if you're not used to writing first-person.
Yeah, I based the page off of Hara's images, not the anime. Second person in party 4 is Kawatarou Nakai, I believe. And yeah, I'm pretty sure you're right on the difference.
