Tailor is one of the numerous Production subclasses in Elder Tale.

Overview[]

The Tailor subclass enables a player to manufacture items out of various types of textile and fabric. The types of items that the player is able to handle or produce varies by their skill level but are known to include almost all types of fabric-related items like armor, aprons, bags, cloth and leather for light equipment (robes and cloaks).[1] For some high-leveled items and material, like silk from Pearl Spider thread[〈真珠蜘蛛の糸〉 Shinju kumo no ito], the skills and production processes are considered closer to the likes of a magic item than just basic fabric.

It is known as a suitable subclass for beginners who want to make money but it can, at a higher level, be outclassed in terms of profits by other Production subclasses, especially the weapon-making ones.

More advanced skills in sewing and clothing styles are revealed after undergarments are invented, which did not previously exist in the world of Elder Tale. This development was greatly welcomed by all female players.

Tailors are common in Theldesia, even in remote villages. Those who usually take on this task are old women, skilled at needlework, and farmer’s children, supporting the other workers and providing the essential needs of the village : food, clothes and shelter. These Tailors earn their daily life by mending the village’s clothes, bedding and miscellaneous fabrics, with those living in more urban areas having more sophisticated (and subdivided) works, some specializing themselves in cloaks, robes, dresses, hats and even quilted bed covers.
